Abrar-ul-Haq (Punjabi: ابرار الحق) is a Pakistani singer-songwriter, philanthropist, and politician.[2][3] His debut 1995 album Billo De Ghar sold over 40.3 million albums worldwide,[4] which made him a household name and granted him the title of "King of Pakistani pop".[5]
Abrar-ul-Haq's songs have been a subject of controversy in Pakistan. After the release of the hit song "Billo De Ghar" in 1995, Urdu newspapers began quoting Islamic scholars of Lahore who were of the opinion that the song was describing a man falling in love with a prostitute and wanting to marry her. Upon the formation of Nawaz Sharif's PML-N majority government after the 1997 election, the song was banned from state-owned TV and radio channels.[9]
In the early 2000s, his song "Nach Punjaban" was met with opposition from those who thought the casual use of the word "Punjaban" was a demeaning way to address Punjabi women, eventually resulting in Abrar-ul-Haq re-recording a version of the song using the word "Majajan" instead.[10]
In 2007, the Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned the singer for an explanation of the song "Parveen" from the album Nara Sada Ishq Aye, alleging that it used the name Parveen in a derogatory manner that would hurt the sentiments of society.[11]
In 2019, his song "Chamkeeli" was the subject of a claim in a civil court in Lahore, with the courts requesting that the song be banned and removed from YouTube alleging that it was humiliating and insulting to both men and women.[12]
ISLAMABAD, May 21: Singer Abrarul Haq is at the centre of a controversy over one of the songs from his new album as the Supreme Court on Monday observed that songs that hurt the sentiments of a section of people in a society like Pakistan should not be permissible.
It was a column published in an Urdu daily carrying a letter from a female student also named Parveen on the effect of the song on her life that compelled the apex court to exercise his suo motu jurisdiction.
Chamkeeli is the Punjabi wedding song. The video features Mehwish Hayat and vlogger Shahveer Jaffrey. The song was released earlier this month. Jaffrey played groom in the song while Hayat played his bride.
Petitioner has described the song disrespectful towards men and demanded its removal from YouTube. The song has so far garnered 3 million views on YouTube. The petitioner has also asked the singer to apologize for the song.
Abrar-ul-Haq is the prominent PTI member, joined the party in 2011. He frequently graced the PTI demonstrations and entertained the protestors with his performances. Haq even made a pitch for Imran Khan by singing a few party anthems and songs for the election campaign.
Hi, I couldn't find any lyrics online of this song so I would like to ask for some help understanding this song. If someone could write the lyrics with translation that would be greatly appreciated :)
Singer turned politician Abrar ul Haq's quip about mothers playing the song 'Baby Shark' may have gone down well with some people but it didn't sit right with everyone who heard it. While celebrities such as model Nadia Hussain and actor Yasir Hussain criticised the singer, actor Zarnish Khan and singer Shafqat Amanat Ali came to Haq's defence.
"Not sure how you go from listening to the Kalma from your mother to belting out song such as 'Nach Punjaban' or 'Billo De Ghar'," she said on Twitter, referring to the singer's popular songs about women.
The song 'Nach Punjaban' is about a Punjabi woman who loves to dance while the song 'Billo De Ghar' is about a man flirtatiously rushing to the house of a woman he likes. Yasir backed Nadia up by sharing her critique on social media. "You've hit the nail on the head. Good one," he said on instagram Stories.
"The songs 'Nach Punjaban' and 'Billo De Ghar' were not by the singer in the lap of his mother at the age of one," Ali continued. "He's talking about raising kids here, not someone's profession. It is a person's choice whether they want to be a singer or an actor when they grow up."
Gurdas Mann and Sukshinder Shinda
Recently, Abrar has teamed up with Gurdas Mann and Sukshinder Shinda in a Punjabi single called Collaborations. The song was an immediate success. (2006) he is a very popular singer in Pakistan and India. He is not only popular in India and Pakistan but worldwide. He had done concerts in many countries of the world like Denmark, USA, Canada, UK, UAE and etc.

The company's breakthrough came when it released the soundtrack Kaptan (2022) , directed by Ahad Khan and starring Imran Khan. The Kaptan (2022) soundtrack, composed by Abrar Ul Haq and written by Abrar Ul Haq , became the Pakistan's most famous soundtrack. The biggest hit song was the cover of "Kon Tujhe Yoon Pyar Karega (2022)", sung by Muhammad Hassaan and picturised on Muhammad Hassaan. AH Films founder Muhammad Hassaan played a key role in the success of AH Films. As a film production company, AH Films has had some moderate success.
The revered artists of Pakistani entertainment industry will be joining forces on a new Punjabi song titled Rano. With Abrar's vocal powerhouse and Ali's on screen charm, the upcoming song will definitely top charts.
After that, in addition to having people listen to this album, Abrar proceeded to attract attention with a number of songs. The variety of things that Abrar offers his audience is what makes him distinctive.
He embellished his songs with political overtones in addition to love songs. 'Nara Sada Ishq Aaye' is a brilliant example in which he expertly melded passion and politics. This song had been kindled by the power of Punjabi.
However, following the events that transpired on May 9, lachrymose Abrar made the decision to give up politics for the time being. But, he is a well-known figure who is adored for his singing and charitable work. His patriotism cannot be questioned. The patriotic song "Dharti Hai Ma" is a superb example of Abrar's patroitism.
As a fan, I would like to encourage Abrar to continue making music. Even though he was actively involved in politics, he still managed to record a few songs, including "Chamkeli," "Begum Shak Karti Hai," and collaboration with prominent Punjabi hip-hop musician Bohemia.
As Abrar is the nation's greatest asset. He attracted millions of followers with his distinctive, unconventional style of signing. My favourite Abrar's songs include "Yaar Mera Wasda Rahe," "Dilbaron Ki Basti Mein," and "Pardesi," among many others.
