(Hi my name is Merci and I do product + UX stuff at Singly!)

Can we use this unofficial work to make a Pinterest synclet? https://github.com/kellan/pinterest.api.php

I'm thinking about services that are very collection-based to help draw in non-dev account holders.

Apart from bookmarks, we have shopping as a very natural collector activity. Are there any good shopping APIs available? Amazon?

I'm also interested in a Pinterest synclet, and I think Amazon Wishlists are another good candidate in the same vein (though there's no longer a good API to get at them from Amazon)...

Beau - what do you think about using an unofficial API to get the Pinterest data?

Until they make something public, you gotta do what you gotta do, to an extent.   We could check the TOS to see what they think about scraping, but if we're only getting your data I doubt it's too wrong.

I would love to get my Amazon wishlist data! Looks like there are plenty of
scrapers around.

Scraperwiki.com was built for this. Plus you can export your scraped data as a json feed.

For sure! I'm also very very keen to reach female account holders with our product and I think that enabling something like Pinterest or other collection-based synclets would really help with this.

In my experience designing games, collection is a slightly gendered mechanic in that Lady Playahs like it a little more than Gentlemen Playahs. An example of a slightly gendered mechanic that trends male is PVP combat, even executed ala Mafia Wars.

I'd LOVE to get this done a soon to help us reach out 1k account holders objective. I want at least 50% of those account holders to be women. :)

I've wanted to make it easier to use scraperwiki but I don't see any way they support authenticated data yet right?

For sites where all your data is scrape-able publicly though it could be great :)

I used to think the only way to get my amazon purchases was a browser scriptlet or extension, then I realized they're all in my inbox, would love to get our IMAP connector working again soon and have a simple framework to extract data from it :)

It looks like there's a more official Pinterest API now:

I started on one today but didn't get very far (familiarized myself with how connectors work, basically), point me to your code when you get some and I'll write some front-end :)

I guess it's not official yet :(

Also filed an issue to track it (any comments/suggestions on the issue thread welcome!):

And this is as far as I got, this screen just refreshes when you hit Allow, it doesn't send any oauth token back:

You can see that it doesn't have the info in it yet, so clearly not quite ready for prime time... and since there's no auth token, the json structure isn't documented there either, so a bit hesitant to start writing code against it by guessing from other clues.

It feels like they're pretty close though!

Here's some new information on the availability of their API:

Looks like they're holding off to avoid a 'Twitter problem'.
