At this time of Thanksgiving, I'd like to thank all of you who have
made the first year of SingleServe a success! A few things YOU made
possible:

* Through your help spreading the word, we have almost 90 people
signed up to get messages from the listserv.

* In the first year, more than 30 different people took part in
projects throughout the year.

* We assisted eight different service organizations and causes.

* Oglethorpe Elementary School's nature area was cleared of mountains
of kudzu, privet and old tires on the MLK Day of Service.

* The Step into Africa exhibit assembled by our capable crew attracted
just shy of 5,000 visitors and resulted in 250 children affected by
AIDS to be "adopted" through World Vision.

* AthFest continued its reign as a premiere music festival in the
South - despite it being the hottest day of the summer.

* We "ushered" in a packed house at The Morton Theatre for the Athens
Creative Theatre production of Bye, Bye Birdie.

* The Oconee Friends of the Library sale netted more than $13,000 for
new books and equipment for the Oconee County Library.

* Bike Athens had three bikes with the initial inspection and repairs
completed, taking the bikes one step closer to being used by someone
who needs them.

* We promoted recycling with the Athens-Clarke County Recycling
division to encourage recycling in the bars downtown.

* The Classic City Rollergirls let us get "hands-on" with the half-
time entertainment. Some of the proceeds from the bout will benefit
our parent organization, HandsOn Northeast Georgia.

And that's just a little bit of what we've accomplished. Add to that
making friends and having fun! Thanks to everyone who has
participated, listened, shown interest, shared the group with a
friend, or cheered us on! I appreciate you more than I can say!

We'll be finishing out the year by helping the Marine Corps sort
donations to Toys for Tots - stay tuned for details - and then
SingleServe will kick off the new year with a repeat performance at
the MLK Day of Service.

May you and your friends and family enjoy a very blessed Thanksgiving!

Best,
Ashley
