The Gallery offers excellent exhibition opportunities to local, regional, and national artists, lenders and guest curators. Six exhibitions are presented annually, including a series of three juried exhibitions (ceramics, painting & sculpture, and photography); biennial faculty and alumni shows, a thematic small group show, and an annual student art show. Gallery admission is free and open to the public.

The Gallery's roots can be traced back to the winter of 1969, at which time the Art Department founded the Artists in Residence program. This program invited the best of Northern California's artists to work directly with students and generated the momentum needed to establish an official exhibition space on campus. As part of the Shima Center dedication in 1975, the SJDC Fine Arts Gallery was founded to promote professional and contemporary art. This original gallery functioned successfully through 1987 offering exhibitions and continued residency programming. In 1988 the space was unfortunately reconditioned for non-arts usage. A lack of financial support kept the Gallery closed through 1997. Quality arts programming re-emerged in the late 90's with the strengthening of the Fine Arts Division, and a regard for student and community exhibition needs. The Gallery was remodeled and permanently re-opened in the fall of 2000 as a professional art gallery. The Gallery supports the arts advocacy efforts of the Stockton Arts Commission, the California Arts Council, and the Stockton Unified School District Arts in Education program.

The Gallery feature allows you to add one or more image galleries to your posts and pages using a simple Shortcode. Since WordPress 2.5 and up until 3.5, the gallery shortcode was commonly used in its most basic form:

It's important to note that this style of gallery shortcode is not new to 3.5, previously we could use the include attribute. However it is much easier to generate and manage with the new Media Workflow introduced in 3.5.

The default expected behavior for a gallery that has no explicit IDs stated is to add all images that have the post as post parent assigned. In other words, add all images that were uploaded using the "Add media" button/link on this post edit screen. Keep in mind that this as well means that every attachment added to that post later on will be interpreted to be part of the gallery. No matter if it was displayed as plain attachment or not.

In this class, students will acquire the skills needed to make an archival pigment print. Students will learn to use a digital workflow using Photoshop and an inkjet pigment printer to produce color and black-and-white prints.

We are now offering punch cards for 6 Hours of Digital or Darkroom Lab Time. Perfect for the darkroom aficionado without a darkroom, or someone looking for a place to print their own work. Save a few bucks off the hourly rate for non-members by buying several hours at a time.

CEPA is supported by dedicated patrons, artists, collectors, and community members. We would not exist without your generosity. We invite you to join us by visiting our gallery, becoming a member, taking a class, making a monetary donation, or donating your time by joining our Board of Directors or Committees.

Your tax-deductible gift of any amount is deeply appreciated. Unrestricted donations allow us to use the funds where they are most needed, but you may designate your gift towards Arts Education, the Contemporary Photography and Visual Arts program, the Photography and the Holocaust, Then and Now exhibit, or our ongoing Blues: A 5/14 Community Memorial Project.

Originally incorporated as the Center for Exploratory and Perceptual Arts to serve as a community darkroom and exhibition space, CEPA Gallery was founded during the Alternative Space Movement in May 1974 by recent graduates of the University of Buffalo.

This is often due to the URL paths to the CSS and JavaScript files used by the Lightbox Effects not being changed to relevant addresses based on the new site. This article will help sort out this issue if that is the case: Why are my galleries not opening up in a lightbox?.

In simple terms, Albums are collections of galleries. So Galleries contain your photos and Albums contain your Galleries. Albums act as links and placeholders to quickly and easily navigate your galleries. Galleries will actually display your images.

Yes, the lightbox can be configured with multiple options directly from the Dashboard, and there are multiple CSS styles, which can be applied and modified as well. If you want even more options, consider upgrading to NextGEN Pro and using the NextGEN Pro lightbox.
