Dear friends,
I wanted to reach out and see if any of you would be interested in a "reunion" of SingBrooklyn for Christmas! I am willing to take the lead and make it happen, but only if it's not already in motion (Kristen, is anything already planned?) and if some fine singers are ready to get into the holiday spirit :-)
Here's what I propose:
1) Carols on the Corner
Welcome the community on Sunday mornings in December (10–10:30am) with advent carols in the round, right outside of the entrance to John Jay HS. It could bring a lot of joy to that block and be a festive way to invite passersby into the service.
2) Sunday Performance
Perform a special piece in the service on December 22. I'm currently enamored with "The Wexford Carol," a traditional Irish folk song from the 12th century about the nativity story. The lyrics and rich harmonies are quite lovely.
Of course, we would need to setup some rehearsals to get things ready, but I wanted to check-in with each of you before bringing this to the wider community. Let me know your thoughts!
Ruthie and Nate - can't remember if I can send this to the choir email list, but feel free to forward it along, so I don't forget anyone that's been involved in the past. Thank you!
With love and joy,
Armistead
