Hi friends,

(Some of you might be on the SingBrooklyn list and get this email twice... apologies)

Good news! Tim Cox and I put our heads together and we're tag-teaming the effort to get the SingBrooklyn choir together in December. Here's our plan:

- - - - - - - -

PERFORMANCES

1) Sunday Performance (Dec 15, 10:30am)
We are performing three songs throughout the service: O Come O Come Emmanuel (traditional), We Sing As One (a TGC original), and The Lamb (by John Taverner). Tim is working on getting the parts and practice mp3s ready to go!

2) Carols on the Corner (Dec 8, 15, 22, 10am)
We'll be sharing some informal advent carols at the entrance to church for 20 minutes with easy-to-follow lyric sheets, jingle bells, and a few choice kids instruments!

3) Christmas Eve Carols (Dec 24, 5pm)
TGC Park Slope is having it's first Christmas Eve service in the neighborhood! So anyone who is interested in leading carols at Greenwood Baptist Church (461 6th St), please let me know. It promises to be a joyful start to the evening!

REHEARSALS

We hope to squeeeeeze in 3 practices, which will be held either at the TGC Office (506 5th Ave) or my apartment (210 19th St) before Dec 15, so please take a moment and select your top availability right now:

Let us know if you have any questions! We'll be in touch again soon with our first rehearsal date. Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and holiday spirit :-)

Hope each of you enjoys a peaceful and warm Thanksgiving weekend!

Cheers,
Armistead Booker & Tim Cox

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!

A quick reminder to please respond to this poll today, so we can pin down the TGC SingBrooklyn choir rehearsals:

This coming Sunday afternoon (Dec 8) is definitely looking like a good moment to practice, and I'm hoping we can meet once during this week too. Let me know if you have any questions. Stay tuned for more...

Thanks so much for your enthusiasm!

Hello friends,

Well, we might need a little bit of a Christmas miracle here, but I'm excited to perform a couple pieces with you on December 15th.

Our first piece will be John Tavener’s "The Lamb". (video)
Attached is a pdf of the music. I've found a really sweet website with all the parts played out for you using a computery harmonica.

We'll perform The Lamb in more of a straight tone, so try to limit any vibrato as you rehearse. This will also help us stay on pitch.

We'll also do O Come O Come Emmanuel with the band for communion, and "We Sing As One" after Communion and before the benediction.

Those parts will be pretty simple and I'll have them to you before the big rehearsal this Sunday.

I'm looking forward to singing these pieces (as one) with you.
