GOV.UK to use Ruby on Rails

Just came across this news today that GOV.UK is launching its new website in Ruby on Rails.


What's also interesting is that they are using EC2 as their server infrastructure.

Pretty amazing news to see such adoption in governmental sectors.

It's always disappointing to hear of governments using open source, only to see it all disappear behind the usual barricades of "confidentiality", "security" (and healthy doses of CYA).

I think what really makes this effort stand out is that they've embraced the githubs. Now if we actually see contributions being merged back into the projects: that will be truly game-changing!!
