Isaac,
I know this place at Bras Basah Centre. It costs about $168 to use the place for the evening from 7pm to 10pm (about the same as the Hub)
http://www.csm.sg/portal5/seminar-training-facilities/room-rental-info.html
I’ve been there before and it can seat 70 persons comfortably. And it comes with all the usual facilities. It’s also close to City Hall MRT.
The only problem is that it will have the same formal vibe as any other seminar room.
I’m in class now so I can’t call them to check availability. So maybe you want to check them out first?
- Bryan
I just called and it’s a no go on the place at Bras Basah. They said the room for 80 pax is full. They only have the 35 training room available.
Yah, we can have a quick chat.
Gabriel – any way your office could spot us a place?
I could also ask a friend from Entrepid, they are an incubator with a shop house space. But it’s way out near Geylang Serai and it’s pretty hard to get to unless you drive. Maybe last resort?

Great job everyone. I was just at the Scape’s website too when Ian emailed.
What this means is that we need to quickly update the page so it goes out as a notification of the change. I agree that we can start earlier at 715pm.
So do we need to pay for the venue? I presume we don’t. Does that mean we don’t have to ask for donations?
I end class at 6pm on Wednesday so this means that it would be difficult for me to help set up the place.
I propose that we do the following:
1) Update meetup.com to reflect new venue and new time at 715pm AND NO DONATIONS? – Bryan
2) Update e27, SGE and listing.sg of the changes – Ian
3) Test out the wifi connection there with Amy to see if the video conference is possible – Fergie
4) Check out what we need to do to learn how to get the venue ready in terms of chairs, projector, sound system –Fergie (Gabriel, would you be able to help out with this too?)
5) Inform the other two speakers of the change in venue and provide them with the details by email – Isaac
6) We will need to put up a note at the Hub to inform people who still show up there to reroute to Scape – Gabriel or Fergie
- Bryan
So do we need to collect donations for the venue? Or should we just go ahead and collect anyway so that it becomes the norm? I’ll update the venue first. We can decide this later.
