Brilliant idea Tommy.

Hi Mike. I think we met once? In any case, we have Lean UX on our list of topics and would love help curating a session. Let me know if you're interested to help pull something together and we can discuss.

Copied in our organizer email list which has Bryan and Fergie on it. . .

Cheers,
Isaac

Hi Isaac,

Neo was lightly involved with the Lean UX week that went on here in January.  Mike Chen from MiniTheory was hugely involved in that event.  It seems like he'd be a great guy to curating speakers / run a Lean UX session at the Lean Startup Circle... Maybe the May meetup?

I dont have Bryan or Fergie's email to cc them.. Could you pass the idea on to them.

Cheers,

Do drop by if you have time.

We have not locked down the May event theme so if you're keen to help we'd love to collaborate around lean ux.

Hi Isaac, yes we've met before – we haven't had the chance to thank you for helping us promote Lean UX Week in Jan.

I'd love to work out something we can do together. When's your next meetup for the Circle?

Hi Michael,

Sure let's work on the June session together! Lineup sounds great to me.

Will be in touch shortly with a final date.

Hi Isaac,

Is it possible to do June instead?

We can do an UX edition for June. I already have two speakers lined up who can step in – Tommy from Neo and Keith from IDEO. Our very own Jun Lin can be the third speaker.

We're not so good at MC-ing so we can leave that up to you :)

Hey Michael,

Apologies but 6 PM meetings are tough as I've got little ones.

But now I wonder if we're overcomplicating this with a meeting? The Lean Startup Circle concept as we're running it is pretty simple - 3 speakers, 10 min each + 10 min Q&A, and then some mingling. So far we've covered pivoting, customer development, hypothesis testing, and analytics (you can see the session profiles here).

For the May edition (exact date = May 7) we'd love to do one on UX and would love any help sourcing speakers.

So maybe it just comes down to: a) is this something you'd like to speak at personally? and/or b) would you be interested to help us find a few speakers?

if you're curating speakers we're happy to hand over some of the emceeing as well if that's your thing :-)

Just a reminder that LSM is from 7-9 June so this means that our June SLSC is going to be very close to it. Not sure if it’s going to impact anything. But I guess it’s ok since the topic is not so much Lean Startup but Lean UX.

Thanks for the reminder on that Bryan. I don't see it as much of an issue.

This means we don't have a topic for the May 7 event.

Can I suggest "minimum viable products"? Seems like something we could get three speakers for. . .

Hi everyone,

Have we decided on a topic? We are only a couple of weeks away. I’m sorry for being out of action. My exams are next week! I’ll be able to do more after that.

I don’t think we have covered B2B Cust Dev yet right? If we take this as a topic, I think we can get a few to share?

Dhruv from IEatAds.com comes to my mind.

Fergie can share about his experience.

And I happen to chance upon this guy’s blog: http://idostartup.com/speaking/ and he’s doing energy monitoring solutions for businesses http://www.intraix.com/

What do you all think?

In the worst case, if we can’t get the speakers, maybe the three speakers can come from our own team? Esp considering the time left.

We can cover the three types of MVPs in LSM and our own experiences with them

1)      Exploration MVP – I can share how I did my interviews for TaskIsland

2)      Pitch MVP – Gabriel/ Fergie?

3)      Concierge MVP – Ian can share how Pixaroll has done this?

Just a suggestion.

I think it's great to have our organizers speak.

My only issue is that I think we should be talking about actual product MVPs i.e. something that actually generates value for the customer. This notion of pitch mvp or exploration mvp is suspect to me.

I like how Ash Maurya describes it here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHJn_SubN4E

In fact we could show this video at the start?

We have Keith from IDEO, who will talk about design thinking and prototyping.

The other speaker is Jun, my partner at Minitheory. He'll share some practical tips on how the audience can get started on on Lean UX.

I will ping Raven Chai about the third talk. He could give a brief overview of Lean UX.

Cheers,
Mike

Awesome. All set then.

Content guidelines:
  • roughly 10 minute talk and then be prepared for 10 min. Q&A
  • Ideally speakers are specifically engaging with lean startup concepts
  • Can focus on practical tips or theory as you see fit
  • Slides recommended but exact approach up to the speaker
  • Need to keep the level fairly introductory as we have quite a few newbs in the crowd
Hope that helps? We would need speaker bios and abstracts by start of next week so we can promote. Can borrow the format from past events. http://www.meetup.com/Singapore-Lean-Startup-Circle/events/116067732/

Cheers,
Isaac

Hi Isaac,

Raven said yes. I'll work with then regarding the content. Do you have any requirements?

Mike
