Hi guys,
Have to check are they still going to to impose the charge usage for the Hub?
We kinda of committed last night to the attendees that it'll be on the first Wed of every month. 6/3/2013
I was thinking do we want to do a recap or something since we had like 3 topics covered already?
cheers,
Ian

For the charges, do you think it'll be okay if we said we'll provide dinner for the participants, and charge a cover fee of say, $10 to cover the food cost and the venue cost?

Cheers,
Gabriel Sai

If we do it at the hub, there might not be enough space for the food as we have to clear the food to arrange the sitting.
The event will be longer than it is now. So i don't think we should have dinner.
We can provide our own drinks though.

I don’t think we have the capacity to include food since we are already quite busy with just putting tables and chairs back.

I’m also concerned about the Hub because we didn’t have a chance to discuss if they are going to charge us full rates from now on. If there’s no increase, I think we could pass the bag around at the event and it should cover the $50 cost. If any more, we might have to charge a small cover charge.

As for the topic, I’m thinking that we can cover the lean canvas or the business model canvas? Or how to document down our assumptions and tests?

Quite a few people get the concepts but struggle with being disciplined in implementing them.

Good thread guys.

Agree food is a bit out of scope and a hassle.

Fergie - as a Hubber can you check what our deal would be ongoing with them? Once we have that data point we can fix a plan which I suggest will likely be "pass the hat". I pull in a couple of hundred at each blinkBL_Nk with this method and it keeps it mellow and avoids having to deal with eventbrite payment etc.

Re: topic, I think lean canvas is great but does not lend itself to 3 speakers b/c it needs a unified approach. I could run a full 1.5 hour session on lean canvas, a mix of talk and workshop. We do this a lot at Pollenizer so very easy to deliver. Let me know what you guys think.

Pass the hat sounds viable.
Think the workshop could be a good build up to the LSM?

I think we should stick to our 3 speaker format.

Many of the people who come are new comers from meetup and they might not be prepared for a workshop.

Maybe we could cover a more practical topic like Tools for Customer development (e.g. Landing Pages)?

Hi Folks,

Here's the topic list we brainstormed at our last meeting

  • customer development (done)
  • lean canvas/business model canvas
  • manual testing/hypothesis testing
  • metrics (aka lean analytics)
  • lean UX

I think it's a good one and that we should stick with it.

So let's try to find 3 speakers on business model canvas and I'm happy to be one of them as it's an area of personal interest.

For the money issue, let's just stick to the Hub and I'm sure we can squeeze $150 from the crowd.

Cheers,
Isaac

Guys,
I agree with Fergie that we should have an enterprise and a consumer perspective.
Let's do this.
Do we want to mention passing the collection hat in the write-up for the event?
Cheers,
Ian

Hi All,

Lean startup for enterprise is definitely a cool topic. But I worry we might end up chasing speakers who simply have startups that are in the enterprise space rather than ones that really want to talk about lean startup.

Do you guys have specific speakers that you think fit the theme?

Cheers,
Isaac

Hi everyone,

In the interest of time, let’s carry on with the business model canvas theme for March and keep looking out for people who can share about how their companies are employing lean startup. Since Isaac can be one of the speakers, we will only need to find two more.

I can write up about collecting money in the writeup for the next event.

Some questions about the money collection:

1)      Do we want to tell them that it’s $150? (I personally don’t think we need to)

2)      What do we plan to do if there’s excess of $150 collected?

3)      What if the collection isn’t enough?

Good call Bryan! Let's have a chat at the event itself about later event topics.

We should not mention the amount in the mailer. Just say we will collect donations. If there is not enough Pollenizer can cover it for now. If there is more then we will buy ourselves beer, we deserve it :-)

Can someone remind me the date and I can work on speakers?
