I've been having issues with After Effects seemingly crashing & shutting down Windows ( as if I cut off the power, instant black screen). Occassionally before, even more so and at times 4-5 times within the hour. It's unrelated to what I'm doing, I can be 30 mins into a session, it can be after 5 minutes. Even if there's just AE running (no other major software to clog up CPU or RAM), even if I freshly empty all caches.
Running the Intel graphics updater, it can't detect any drivers to install and I made sure to get the latest from both Intel and Nvidia after resetting my machine. I don't know what could cause the random shutdowns lately as I've been working without any problems for the longest time.

Usually, it's the GPU driver that could cause such issues. Since you have tried updating it and it hasn't worked, it could be insufficient RAM. After Effects requires at least 16 GB RAM to work properly: -effects/system-requirements.ug.html
I recently updated to the new After effects, Premiere pro & media encoder.
and have no encountered slower rendering, unable to open the programmes without crashing and i cant send projects to media encoder.
Do you see any error messages or crash reports? A third-party plug-in that is not compatible with the latest version of After Effects or Premiere Pro, could cause such an issue. You can try removing the plug-ins if you're using any. Also, consider verifying if RAM on your computer meets the minimum system requirements for After Effects and Premiere Pro.
I am wondering because I heard many rumors about the current version of after effects not compatible with M1 or M2 chips or not being able to take full advantage of the memory allocation system of M1 or M2 chips..
After Effects has been Apple Silicon native since version 22.3. It runs really well under Intel emulation as well. Unless using a third party plug in that hasn't been updated or GoPro Cineform, it should not be needed though.
I am running successfully and very happily on a 16" M2 MacBook Pro with very similar specifications. Make sure you allocate an even multiple of 4GB of ram to other applications, cut down the Disk Cache size to something like 40GB so you don't have to wait a long time to clear the cache, and be ready to roll back a version of AE using the Creative Cloud app if one of the builds introduces some problems. I have had my M2 since they came out and have had to do a rollback twice because of temporary problems with the builds. Every plugin that I have, except for Knoll Light Factory, but the Knoll Light Factory EZ included in Universe is fine. That includes the entire Maxon, Boris FX, AE Scripts (all that are current), and Video Copilot plugins. I have not updated any of my Re-Vision effects plugins for a very long time, and they are not installed because I don't use them, and I would have to update them. I have not seen any reports of problems with Twixor that can't be fixed by using the recommended workflow.
Either of the options should run After Effects sufficiently, but the M2 Max with 64GB memory is the better choice for smoother performance in After Effects, especially for graphic artists. The current version of After Effects is compatible with M1 and M2 chips, but having more memory can be advantageous for graphic-intensive tasks.
Sorry, but you'll need to think about getting something else. It's woefully inadequate in memory -- hat thing only has 1GB RAM. AE needs at least 8 gigs. and you really should have 16 gigs to make it run a little better.
Aside from what Dave said about memory, AE doesn't run on ARM processors and requires Windows or OSX, which isn't avialable for RasPi either. It's really weird to even come up with such a crazy idea in the first place.
Well, not so weird now, right? Not only Raspberry Pi can run Windows, there's also a model equipped with an 8GB RAM Memory. I think when it comes to computers, no question can be weird. If it's not possible now, it's just a matter of when it will be, not if.
Indeed this is a weird question for me to see because I happen to be, at this very moment sitting in a freshly baked, perfectly warm raspberry pie. Don't knock it till you've tried it. Please mark this answer as correct.
I think this is a legitimate questions for ANYONE to ask. No question is stupid and not everyone understands and whacks off to "specs". This person came in apologetically as a newbie and you tools could have just said nothing at all instead of shaming them. I have run after effects cc and premiere pro cc on an old 2011 iMac. You folks can note that it doesn't meet the 2GB requirement and yet it does a decent job considering. So let's not all get hung up on the specs, because often enough they aren't accurate when it's a company selling their latest and greatest, nor is it always accurate on the side of Software companies. I agree it probably won't work, but unless you have tried out of curiousity and failed, SHE WASN'T ASKING YOU. You can try shareware that isn't adobe, but may have ways to do some of what you want on After Effects. Now I haven't taken the time to look over all of these or their requirements, but some of them run on linux, so with the Raspberry Pi 4, why not take a look and see what rules you can bend with shareware and alternatives... -effects-alternative.html
It's not Adobe, but if you're not married to Adobe like some of us are, it may be fun for you to go that route. It's not much of an investiment of money to get a Rasperry Pi, but it's an investiment of time learning and than figuring out how to make some lower level motion graphics program work on it. It's only a matter of time until people start doing that anyway. Nothing wrong with asking, because asking leads to creative solutions. The fact that these folks came at you like that criticism for asking a simple question, doesn't say anything about your intelligence. Their response to you says a lot about theirs and their ability to think outside the box. I bet their use of Adobe programs is unimpressive as well. Good question, keep on asking them.
Guys I can't use adobe after effects with my current pc. My specs are
AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5Ghz
8GB DDR4 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT1030 2GB
it's terrible. It won't even render anything. AE keeps constantly crashing and is unable to do absolutely anything (even cannot save project properly). Keeps freezing after every few minutes. Previously I used Core i7 860 many years back and it worked like a charm. Are Ryzens really this horrible for editing stuff.
Morever I can't even do a basic color correction without AE freezing, lagging and eventually crashing.
Yes, your computer is a bit weak with this hardware. Adobe recommend 8GB RAM minimum, but it's not clear if they mean 8GB for AE, or 8GB for the system. Windows 10 alone can easiely eat up 4GB in idle.
Long and short: You may need to spend some time to optimize your system's drivers and libraries. It may even be as trivial as finding an AMD-specific version of a DLL used by a driver. I'm pretty sure given the regularity of your crashes and the overall bad performance your device manager and event viewer have a lot to say about it....
Hello, I'm 15 years old and I'm an Instagram editor, so I might not know a lot about computer stuff, but I have followed many tutorials about clearing up disk space. I have cleared the space multiple times but my project still refuses to render and gives the same error (disk space is full). I have manually cleared the disk space (Media cache files and media cache) and even from appdata. And my Creative Cloud doesn't update and fails because: there is no space on the disk. I tried rendering my old projects that have rendered before (just for testing) but they aren't rendering too. I have even tried Adobe Media Encoder to render it but it couldn't connect to AE, which is why I turned to Creative Cloud to update both AME and AE to the latest version. Can someone please help me? Nothing has worked so far and it's been a day.
Sounds like you haven't got a big enough computer. Please ensure your computer exceeds the minimum system requirements to run Creative Cloud + all other apps you intend to use. Requirements vary by product so check each one. Also keep in mind that macOS Catalina alone requires 4 GB of RAM and 12.5 GB of HD storage. To edit video, particularly HD video, you need a powerful computer with ample empty HD space.

Well it renders now after clearing up temporary files! I do a lot of saving because my AE crashes a lot and I think the aeps took up a lot of space. Thanks for the answers, it wasn't the solution to my problem but it definitely could be the solution to someone else's problem!

The Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) are the heart and soul of any system running Adobe After Effects. The CPU handles the general computation, while the GPU takes care of rendering and visual effects. Together, they determine how quickly and smoothly your projects will run.
These recommendations are based on my two decades of experience working with Adobe After Effects. They ensure that you can handle complex compositions, 3D elements, and high-resolution footage without a hitch.
Different versions of Adobe After Effects may have varying system requirements. Always refer to the official Adobe website for the most accurate and up-to-date information. However, the above recommendations should suffice for most recent versions, providing a good balance between cost and performance.
