Dear Anand,
I spoke to you this morning. Please read my earlier e mail to you below. I admire your efforts to bring SINDHI BRAIN on common platform. I made some suggestion.
  • Suggest to change name of your group SINDHI INTELLIGENTSIA instead of Brain.
  • Please read themes from RETURN OF ARYANS on the web site www.sindhulogy.org starting the word AUM
  • Following is the press release on Virtual Sindh. We need an Indian Attorney as volunteer who can write constitution for virtual Sindh. Avi will co ordinate with you once you find some one amongst you.
  • I mentioned to you about Sindhu Saraswati Museum in Pune.
I had visited head of the archaeologist department on last visit and requested them   to name the Museum Sindhu Saraswati instead Indus Saraswati. They agreed that Original name is Sindhu and will consider. Please check out these two link

I read about your new member Prakash Ramchandani. He is producer/actor and has produced several documentary. He may consider a documentary on Sindhu Saraswati Civilization based on the book RETURN of The Aryans.

I will be in Mumbai/Pune end November. I will assist you with the President of Sindh Collegiate board .

Please feel free to contact. I am forwarding copy of this email to Prakash Ramchandani to seek his opinion. You are our future to carry the torch of Sindhi Nation

VIRTUAL SINDH

The Directors of American Institute of Sindhulogy have for a long time looked for ways of encouraging participation of younger Sindhi’s.   Our best efforts have all fallen short of our goals.  The good Lord  works in unpredictable ways and it seems that finally our prayers have been answered.

Please  welcome Dr. Avi Balwani who personifies a lot more than we asked for: Drive, Commitment, belief and willingness  not only to get involved but to take the reins of the Organization to steer it to the new heights.

We the Directors, represent the generation of Sindhi’s forced to give up our land after the partition; forced also to migrate  virtually empty handed to the areas of India without the comfort of  “the family of Sindhi’s” with whom we had grown and identified prior to 1947.  Dr Avi  Balwani represents the hope and the pride of Sindhi’s.  I must admit that he already has delivered to us “Sindh” many of us have dreamt about,  in a form called “Virtual Sindh”;  this Sindh can never be taken away from us  and in fact promises to transform into its physical form (actual land) at some point in the future.  It may not happen in my life time but it certainly can in Avi’s.

Welcome Avi!  God bless you.  You are the pride of our community and we pray that you get the strength to continue for ever.  We are humbled by your enthusiasm.

Virtual Sindhu Desh

The context
Sindhis have proven once more, to themselves, that Darwinians has failed to get the better of the children of the Sindhu. Sindhis have regained a lot of what was once lost, the roots of our existence, our society structure, our state, our land, our language and also our happiness as citizens in our own state.

But "our" is hardly the perfect choice of word to describe what we lost, it never reallybelonged to us anyway. In fact, comparing 1940 to 2010 we have really lost nothing at all, we have only gained, we have taken over the world!! No, dear readers we the sindhis belonged to it. We belong to it today too. That is also the reason we cannot lose it, we cannot lose the roots of our existence, neither can we lose our society structure, nor our state, or our land, let alone our language and also our happiness as citizens in our own state.

Sindhis have never ever known what it means to give up, to lose, to fail. We are born to make, to gain and give, to succeed and to share our success. Sindhis will therefore continue to make, to give and to share. This axiom once more established itself in bringing me to the American institute of sindhulogy and bringing the founders and promoters of the institute to me.
The Mission

The time is coming for us sindhis to resurrect the roots of our existence. We have to prepare, we have to work, we have to create and then we have to share sindh, just as sindhis once did. We the current generation, my generation, have to relieve the former generation of the heavy burden they have carried for us to enable us to retain our identity, our being and our purpose for mankind. The vision of our fully resurrected sindhi State, a flourishing sindhi society and a happy sindhi people waits to become reality. We have developed the means, gathered the knowledge, maintained the tenacity and nurtured the sincerity to carry through the unfulfilled dreams of our parents and grandparents through to fruition.

The dream became a vision, the vision has now become a mission to form our own sindhi
constitution, a theme that has been taken up by me with Sindhu Rattan Ram Jethmalani. Dear sindhis, the mission is a service, a service to mankind itself but even more an obligation to our forefathers and a commitment to the future of the future generations. I would like to request you to acquaint yourselves with this mission, to understand its significance, to imbibe its fervor, and in whatever manner possible to feel free to join in.

Virtual sindhu Desh

No other nation or people have it, and we shall be the first to make it! We shall make it using the means available, we shall realize it to perfection. We will create it there where it will evolve and be born. Welcome to virtual sindh!

Virtual sindh encompasses the entire planet with the world wide web. It offers every one of its citizens the full benefit of its being, irrespective of geography, and it is neither to be conquered nor can it be taken away. Sindhis from all walks of life are invited to come and evaluate for themselves how easily they can regain the roots of our existence, our society structure, our state, our language and also our happiness as citizens in our own state.

Under the auspices of American Institute of Sindhulogy , Sindhu Rattan. Ram Jethmalani and other experienced, widely traveled and most committed amongst us we welcome all voluntary forms of participation, benefaction, furnishment, endowment and votive offerings which any Sindhi may wish to pledge and would be most happy to address all questions and queries. Dear sindhis, the effort has been born as a spark and has been kindled to a flame. With your goodwill towards the Institute of sindhulogy there remains no doubt that we shall soon share success.

Thank you very much for your most kind attention and do feel free to join us in virtual sindh movement

American institute of Sindhulogy (AIS) was inaugurated  in August 2000 in Chicago by Sindhu Ratan Ram B .Jethmalani .AIS mission is to promote awareness of our unvoiced/forgotten ancient Sindhu saraswati Civilization. AIS programs have been very successful in the USA , specially reaching out to non Sindhi and main stream of America,

AIS launched awareness of non violence program this year in Illinois. I was encouraged by educational Institute and enthusiastic support from Non- Sindhi Indian Americans as you can read in the following press release. Regretfully cool response from Sindhi community in Chicago. I am unable to explain this situation to non sindhi. I firmly stand by my firm beliefs and carry them forward. There will several obstacles and frustration but move on EKLA CHALO

To day I complete my 84 years of life. Some one must take the mission project forward. I am proud of young Non Sindh Indian Americans for their dedicated assurance to carry forward the mission. The ancient civilization is heritage of the people of sub continent of India (BHARAT VARSHA).

PRESS RELEASE

Desi Junction, American Institute of Sindhulogy and Indian Americans of Illinois Launch Non Violence Awareness Program for State of Illinois'

CHICAGO- (August 15, 2010) On the auspicious celebration of 64th Independence day of India, Desi Junction Radio, American Institute of Sindhulogy and Indo-Pak  Friendship Forum joined hands to carry the message of 'Universal Peace and Non-violence"  They represented the Independence day parade with a vibrant float exhibiting India’s cultural multiplicity, emblematic portraits of the world’s ultimate messengers: Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., President Mandela, Frontier Gandhi, Aung San Suu Kyi.  The crowds on Devon avenue, of Chicago wholeheartedly welcomed and supported our message.

Hundreds of spectators, not only Indians but people from almost every ethnic group were eagerly waiting to see the India Day Parade Chicago 2010. The Independence Day of India was a moment of delight and grandeur which was reflected in all who participated in the parade with various colorful and creative ways to express their patriotism. It was a delight to find curious young crowd very inquisitive about the  portraits of 'the messengers of non-violence and peace' on our float.

The highlight of this momentous occasion was Gandhi caps worn by all present on the float.  This symbol of peace heightened the curiosity of all attending the parade.  Mr. Dial Gidwani of AIS states that "Gandhi caps are designed to honor Gandhiji, they represent peace- our future generation needs to carry on the values of ancestral heritage in our country"

Desi Junction thanks Mr. Rawat from Federation of Indian Associations, the great proponent of Indo-Pak Friendship Forum, for providing the float for the parade on Devon Ave, Chicago . The attendees of the parade were invited to join the "Indo-Pak Friendship Forum" to diminish the man- made boundaries between two neighboring countries. All Indians with strong nationalistic spirit had a great opportunity to join us and take a small step in the direction of bringing eternal peace to our beautiful planet.

American Institute of Sindhulogy (AIS)was founded in August 2000, by Mr. Dial V Gidwani and friends to promote awareness of our Ancient Sindhu Sarawati Civilization. The best selling book on the culture RETURN OF THE ARYANS was presented to 1000 academic libraries in the USA . AIS requested 5000 libraries to purchase book from their resources. Please visit web site www.sindhulogy.org for details.

In a previous meeting with AIS, Jassi Parmar CEO of Desi Junction, had talked about the sole and foremost mission of Desi Junction: to connect people of South Asia living in Midwest and beyond to their roots and affirmed the sentiments of all the team members to serve the community; keep our Heritage alive in the minds of its thousands of radio listeners every week  and various events as forthcoming event Heritage India Festival on August, 21, 2010 at Jain community Center Bartlett.  Visit www.Desijunction.com for complete information.

AIS was prompted to launch non violence teaching program after the killing of Darien Albert of Fenger High School. President Obama deputed Arne Duncan US Education Secretary and Mr. Eric Holder attorney General to Chicago to determine ways and means to curb growing violence in Illinois , especially Chicago . According to Surender Mathur, Desi Junction, AIS’s mission of bringing awareness about ‘Non Violence Program’ to elementary and secondary school students, is a great undertaking!  Nonviolence should be a way of life for us. It is a powerful approach to social change and should be a strong foundation for peace based on the strength of love and dignity.

Mr Hiro Mirchandani President AIS had made strong emphasis that there is a lot to be done to create awareness about the rich history of our ancient civilization.  He stated that team like Desi Junction will be the most appropriate medium to bring this knowledge to the main stream America

This was the first successful collaborative effort of American Institute of Sindhulogy and Desi Junction to carry the torch  of love, peace and universal brotherhood .This ambitious undertaking is to reach out not only to the immigrants from sub continent of India but the main stream of America and with ultimate dream to  envision the everlasting non-violent and peaceful universe.

Anand Lakhmani alak...@gmail.com has invited you to join the SindhBrains
group with this message:

With India’s independence, came the Partition of India. Sindhi Hindus were
obliged to flee from Sind, leaving their homes and property behind. The
alternative was massacre or forced conversion for most of them, if they chose
to remain in Sind.
Most Sindhi Hindus (nearly three million) found refuge in India, initially in
most difficult circumstances. Their initiative and enterprise, combined with
professional skill and hard work, have brought them prosperity. Nearly two
hundred thousand Sindhi Hindus are settled in other countries, including U.K.,
USA, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Nigeria, Thailand, Canada,
Australia, Dubai and Spain.
During the years after independence and partition of India in 1947, Sindhis
have reached a stage when their wealth, education, influence and opportunities
are rising. But the question is: Who is rising? Sindhis as individuals, or
Sindhi community as a whole? The stark reality is that in the midst of this
progress, the community as a cultural entity is disappearing; Sindhi culture
is fading away; our children will know nothing of it . Sindhi language is
vanishing; our youngsters will know little of it. Even knowledge, that Sind
was our homeland, and sustained us for centuries, will lose all its impact for
our younger generation.
A Sindhi, then, attached to no ancient homeland, nourished by no unique
culture, served by no special language, may come to be absorbed - by marriage,
domicile, whim or chance - here, there, everywhere; but as a community, with
the passage of time, Sindhis will have no identity, belong nowhere, have no
bonds with any single culture, and not even, the memory of its roots, unless
corrective steps are taken.
Sindhis have made many mistakes in the past in the political and social arena,
but if we forget our own roots, that would be our greatest mistake for the
future, and a betrayal of our own children and their generations, robbing them
of self-esteem and the respect due to them from other communities.

I strongly feel that there should be co-ordination, co-operation and active
association of Sindhi intellectuals from India and abroad who are concerned
for the development of Sindh Culture, come forward for establishing Sindhi TV
channels, Sindhi Vidyarthi Gruh, Promote Sindhi artists etc, share their views
on different topics, implement development projects and help the scattered
young Sindh brains build their career.

May our little contribution pave the path for our Sindhi community getting its
due recognition as vibrant and socially active community with rich cultural
heritage not only in India but also abroad.

Main Objectives:

 Formation of strong group of aware Sindhi intellectuals who are passionate
about the cause
 Recognition of artists related to Sindhi Drama, Literature etc for their
contribution in promoting Sindhi art and culture, by
• Instituting yearly awards in various categories
 Establishment of system to incentivize learning to speak Sindhi language, by
• Making interview in Sindhi language compulsory to get admission in Sindhi
Minority Professional Colleges
 Establishment of Sindhi channels
• like DD Punjabi, Urdu etc by pursuing with Central Govt
• like Zee Marathi, Gujrati by convincing private entrepreneurs
 Establishment of Sindhi Vidyarthi Gruh in Mumbai and Delhi on lines of
Rajasthan Vidyarthi Gruh for Sindhi students pursuing professional education
 To help building careers of Sindhi youngsters in India and abroad through a
network of group members

Dear Anand Ji,
I am in contact with Dr Gidwani since last many years. It is noticed that we sindhis are not united every one is pulling legs to be Hero!!!!!
Did any one see the Ruins of Mohan jo Daro out of you? I guess your reply will be no!!!!!!
You are talking about Sarswati , Indus and Sindhu.Sarswati is very different period ans Sindhu is still on Earth.
I read in Shiv Puran that at the junction of Sindhu and Sea there is Narain Sarowar,I started search for that but all vain, while during my visit of India in 2008 I was indicated by my Guruji that Narain Sarowar is in Kuchh/Bhuj.I didn't visit that because of my visa ending.
Sarswati is said that still it is flowing under ground but what I understand it is not in Sindh.Sindhu has changed its flowing at various positions.Indus word was given by Britishers it is purely an English word
Sindhu changed its position to its present position in 3 or 4 locations.
We all are Lohana (Raghuvanshi) we have relocated along with Sindhu,if you will go through that Lohanas you will find in Gujrat (India),the second position of Sindhu was at the present border of Indo Pakistan the old name of that was Parinagar where Lohanas are located, further it changed position to Wango Patan near Badin SinSindh and finally Keti Bandar.
Unfortunately I couldn't meet Dr Gidwani in USA during my visit in 2009.
I just can't understand why you are repeating the old days for the new generation? What I see all Sindhis living overseas will loose ther ID as there children are mixing culture with others. One Example is Dr Dyal Meshri and Mr Prem Lalwani Dr Dyal's son is married to an American and he have 3 daughters do you think that those will continue as Sindhis? Mr Prem Lalwani is himself married a Philipinee lady!!!!!! but they are present and past President All American Sindhi Alliance!!!!!
I have many examples of such kind.

Respected Assaram Ji sir,

I would like to request that we should try to inculcate Sindhi culture and language in our next generation.

If I have observed right I worked in Singapoire for about 8+ years and the efforts thati is being made by Sindhis there is quite good. They teach the culture and also use the language.

Though everwhere there are isntances of inter caste and inter religion and inter nationalities marriages but still we can put in our efforts to promote the language.

Kind regards.

Friends,
Greetings from Los Angeles. I met Mr Assaram in LA last year during Sindhi sammelan.  He is a very sincere Sindhi sevak. For the project that he is advocating, namely building a Virtual Sindh, is very timely.  Most of us, Sindh born Sindhis are getting old very fast.  I was born in Larkana in 1937.  My father late Dr Gobindram Dadlani, used to practice with Kavi Kishinchand Bewas and knew well known Sindhi poets and writers such as Ram Panjwani, Hundraj Dukhayal, Hari Dilgir etc. I have many old Sindhi books. I want to hand over all books before I die as my children can't read or write. My 3 daughters are married to 3 Sindhi boys.
We need a 'THINK TANK" to establish priorities and decide action plans so that within 2 to 3 years this project is completed. Dr Matlani of Bombay university can be our coordinator.
Kind Regards
Mohan Dadlani

Dear all,

I have read with interest the discussion on this forum and feel to share my two cents worth as under:

All cultures of the world are influenced by the socio-economic and politico-religious trends of their respective societies. The host culture thus has powerful influence on shaping the cultural outlook of people living over there. The culture is related to human beings; other species only react to thier natural habitat but lack capability to influence their surroundings.

The Virtual Sindh is a great idea for younger Sindhi generation to re-discover and own their historic cultural past lost in the dust of time since 2500 BC, and yet connect with each other in cyber world sharing their unique experiences of living under different host cultures which have influenced their individual thoughtlines.

The many dimensions of culture include language, food, music, literature, art, film and drama, social trend, politics and economics of the land, environmental issues and geography, personal religion and spiritual pursuits, birth, death and wedding rituals, life style pursuits and hobbies of the individuals, cooking techniques, beauty and fashion styles, entertainment means, education and financial status of the individual and/or family, impact of technological advancement, information explosion and e-communication, shifting international political, trade and wealth equations from West to East, shrinking earth resources, clash of civilisations and impact of integrated globalised world on personal income of the individual etc.

The Virtual Sindh concept including its legal charter should provide opportunity to all young Sindhis of the world to share their unique experiences of integration with each other through Sindhi cultural nexus which has a shared history and geography but are living their present lives in other lands outside Sindh as depicted in "Return of Aryans".

Let the shared experiences of globalised Sindhis infuse a new Virtual Sindhi culture which has best of all Sindhi subcultures of the 21st century world.

Friends,
Have nice Day to everbody. It calm since last couple of days.
I would like to know from Dada Dial Gidwani, about his proposal of documentry?
I propose if any one sponcer I can get made documentry which will be related to Sindh and Sindhu.
If you are aware of present flood in Sindh it has effected from Kashmore to Ketibandar.
The Documentry I am proposing will strat right from Kashmore (it is on the border with punjab where Sindhu enters in Sindh) and Ketibandar is the end of Sindhu meeting with Sea.
This will include Sadhbelo, ruins of Brahmanabad , ruins of Rani kot , Mohan jo Daro,Pari Nagar ruins,Wango Patan ruins,Kaho Jo Daro and the ancient route of Sindhu which was flowing through Rajasthan,Gujrat to Kachh Bhuj,2nd route which end at Parinagar, 3rd route end at Wango Patan and final present position.
I personaly feel this will be more to feed the new generation which will contain all facts.

The culture consists of many dimensions e.g. language, food, music, literature, art, film and drama, social trend, politics and economics of the land, environmental issues and geography, personal religion and spiritual pursuits, birth, death and wedding rituals, life style pursuits and hobbies of the individuals, cooking techniques, beauty and fashion styles, entertainment means, education and financial status of the individual and/or family, technological advancement, information explosion and e-communication, shifting international political, trade and wealth equations from West to East, shrinking earth resources, clash of civilisations and impact of integrated globalised world on personal income of the individual etc.

My dear,
It should be understood that culture is mainly soi lbased and has a vast historical perpective. While you continue the efforts to create a virtual sindh can you deny the existance of real Sindh. Without the cordial relations and free exchange we are likely to end up only with the memory retention of culture. Culture is like a perennial flow it needs continues enrichment from its soil. Please think about this aspect.

Indeed the land plays the most pivotal role in the nourishment of culture. However this discussion is focused on how to pass on cultural norms to landless young generation.

Dears,
Estimated budget required for Sindh side will be around 12000 US$ where as certain areas in India will be required to add that can be done in second stage.

'Virtual Sindh" or "Virtual Sindhudesh" is gr8 idea and only means available at the moment for creating awareness about our root country, language and culture among the newer generation. This idea will only succeed if the gospel is spread at grass root level and is not confined to very few members of 'sindhibrains' group.

We have to start the process of enrolling young Sindhis through through their own networking.

I believe in less than 10 years all the humanity will be hooked to wires. Land, roads, railways, schools, colleges offices and all places will loose meaning.

why would you like to go to office, when you can work from home and achieve better?
Why would you like to go to college, when you can get International Masters degree by remotely appearing exam abroad?

Take it this way, when this happens we can be first  to put our foot on virtual land.

Today this may sound very sci-fi, but you have seen in last 10 years what changes we have witnessed in terms of mobiles, bandwidth, computing power. Day is not far, if you are not hooked to wires you'll be left behind.

Why not Sindhis lead the new world ???

Virtual Sindh :)

I agree with this viewpoint. The business section of Sydney Morning Herald dated 18/10/10 carried following story.

When ASEAN leaders meet in Hanoi this month, one of the top items for discussion will be a five-year plan to open Asia's borders and develop a highly connected trading community in the region.

It is a vast and ambitious proposal, a liberalisation plan that mirrors the single-Europe concept of open borders. And while it will no doubt encounter some hurdles and foot-dragging along the way, there is at least a stated universal commitment within ASEAN to pushing ahead with it.

It is the kind of seismic change in regional economic development that, if implemented, will force all sorts of changes in local laws, regulations and procedures. Australian companies, and professional services firms especially, will need to get to grips with the ramifications swiftly, or risk being muscled out of some rare opportunities.

Under the proposed plan, visa requirements for citizens of ASEAN member nations would be eased, a single tourist visa would be available for all ASEAN countries and tariffs on imported goods would be cut to between 0 and 5 per cent by 2015.

East and West, the two mighty economies of China and India, would be linked by a vastly upgraded highway system from China through Laos, Thailand and Myanmar to India. And a huge railway network would link Singapore in the south to Kunming in China, threading through Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

By 2015, there would be a single aviation market across ASEAN nations. Shipping and customs procedures that tend to bog down in bureaucratic detail would be freed up, easing delays in freight transfers. And telecommunications, power and energy systems would be more closely integrated across borders.

I have forwarded this discussion to my young and mature contacts within Sydney Sindhi Association and wider global network of family and friends with a view to spread the message and let younger minds share their thoughtlines on the subject with all of us.

Dear all,

I just wanted to introduce myself and see if I can please join the sindh brains google group. I recently completed my MA in Asian Cultures and Languages at UT Austin under the guidance of Madhavi Mallapragada where my research examined post-partition Sindhi identity in India. I am a young Sindhi voice based in Texas and in India and Pakistan for the upcoming year.

I am currently working on the Sindhi Voices Project which aims to engage Sindhi communities in the production of their histories. At present, our main focus is partnering with Sindhi schools in India and Pakistan to introduce oral history into the social studies curriculum for 10-12th standard students. Alongside, we are developing a plan for a traveling voices multimedia exhibit of select oral histories with Sindhi elders from different backgrounds, across the globe.

If you are interested, our website has more information about us and the project: www.sindhivoices.org

Please let me know if you any guidance for us as to how to make this initiative more meaningful and effective. I have been in Delhi for the last two months and am moving to Ajmer in early November.

Also, while we are seeking funding for the project at large, one of our pressing needs is to find funding to provide recording equipment to select Sindhi schools in India and Pakistan to carry out oral history interviews with elders in their family and wider community. So please share any resources of ideas you may have. I look forward to your input!

Thank you,
Natasha Raheja

Dear Anand Lakhmani and members of Sindhi Brains Group,

Responding to the interesting dialogue on "Vitural Sindhi
