RetroArch incorporates a ROM scanning system to automatically produce playlists. Each ROM that is scanned by the playlist generator is checked against a database of ROMs that are known to be good copies.

You would need to add the new entries to the DAT and then convert the DAT to a database using the dat converter utility, which you would have to compile. You may be able to compile it using msvc, but I assume msys2 is probably the safest environment to use.

"Scan Directory" and "Scan File" are sometimes refered to as "Auto Scan". These options can only recognise content that match the database.
Using the default settings, these scan options also need a coresponding core for the said content to be already added.

Now I copy my rom to Batocera but not the configuration files.
In Batocera, then I make the same, and reconfigurate my retroarch inside the game and specific for the game
and saved with "override game configuration.
He creates a file in folder mame2003 (diff name from RB but ok, after retroarch should be MAME2003)
but this file is hudge and had no relation to flip-horizontal.glsl and other shaders.

The mistery is that I could not find the copy of the specific retroarch config for this game. But it must be some-where, because he override correctly at the beginning of the game, and game runs with shaders.
So I downloaded the full /share and scanned all the folders for "flip-horizontal.glsl". There is in no file such word to find in the complet /share directory.
Only solution, it is hiding somewhere in the verbidden folders...
So I downloaded also the other folders over filezilla and found retroarchcustom.glslp

Now concerning core override configuration
Batocera is functioning correctly and creating the files on the right place, this means
in /share/system/.config/retroarch/config/mame2003 he created a file mame2003.cfg
and in /share/system/.config/retroarch/config he created retroarchcustom.glslp
what is correct.
Just what will happen with core override configuration in Mame2010 ?
Because if it has the same name as in mame2003, it will override, what is bad.
It would be best if the retroarchcustom.glsp would also be in /mame2003 folder,
so that every core has it own core override, what could then have the same name.

The default configuration looks for cores, assets and database in users' home directory. This means users have to manually download many things to make it work. The patch will change these directories to:

retroarch-assets and retroarch-joypad-autoconfig are required even without any cores. So they are prefixed with retroarch-. libretro-core-info and libretro-database are related to emulation cores. So the package name has libretro- prefix.

INDEPENDENT SAVES. Confusingly, there are a couple other options and configurations that work outside of the process above. This is because they are governed by their own configuration files, and not the typical retroarch.cfg or override cfg/rmp files mentioned above.

By mistake I configured the keys in the MAME 2003 core completely wild, so that now nothing fits anymore. (Important: directly in the emulator, not in the retroarch interface).
Uninstalling and reinstalling the core did nothing. Is there a tip how I can reset the Core internal settings?
