A plastic case is included with the QolorFLEX 2x2.5A Multiverse Dimmer to allow easy mounting to scenery while enabling removal of the dimmer from the case for wiring and configuration. These dimmers are designed and built in the USA by City Theatrical, and are available in the 2.4GHz (P/N 5916) or 900MHz (P/N 5917) band.
Stranger Things is a TV Horror show with four seasons since it was first released on Netflix in 2016. The show is set in a small town that uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments and supernatural forces. Dual band Multiverse Transmitter (P/N 5910) and Multiverse Node (P/N 5902) and 13 miniature QolorFLEX 2x2.5A 900MHz Multiverse Dimmers (P/N 5917) were used during filming the most recent season four for their smooth wireless DMX dimming control and reliability on the 900MHz band. The dimmers were installed on bicycles and within flashlight props to drive 30W LEDs, which put out enough heat to melt plastic. City Theatrical talked to Fixtures Technician Anna McKindley about Multiverse at the show.
The slide dimmer functions just like a light dimmer you might find at home, or a volume fader in a recording studio. You control the slide dimmer Bit by moving its lever from one end of the Bit to the other. Follow it with an LED for some adjustable mood lighting.
The first step of the process was to determine where we wanted to drill the hole for the dimmer. The clear ruler came in really handy so we could see the center points and determine the location. Keep in mind that the shape of your sconce and shade will dictate the best position for the rotary switch, and be mindful of how accessible the switch will be.
With the hole drilled, we popped the thumb dial off of the dimmer, slipped it through the backplate, then tightened it up from the front. The dimmer is very thin and designed to fit inside the fixture with no problem.
Once the modified sconce was wired up it was ready for installation and a quick test. Perfect! The rotary dimmer is smooth and precise. After we spray painted the knob, the color match is almost identical!
With the addition of one or more WS14A Companion Switches the WS12A X10 Decorator Dimmer Switch Module can be expanded to work with 3-way and 4-way switches. The WS12A Switch is made with the new the Soft Start feature. It eliminates the sudden brightness that can be uncomfortable and disorienting. When switched on, lights fade up gradually in about 2 seconds. A gradual dimming fade of approximately 2 seconds creates a pleasant effect, as opposed to instant darkness when the time comes to shut your lights off.

Please be aware that the WS12A X10 Decorator Dimmer Switch Module only works with incandescent bulbs, and will not work properly with other bulbs, such as compact fluorescents. The RC4 LumenDimM6 is a small, 6-channel wireless DMX dimmer using the LumenRadio CRMX/CRMX2 wireless platform. It is ideal for driving LEDs in props, costumes, and set pieces. This device provides an outstanding wireless RDM (remote device management) experience, as well as super-smooth 19-bit LED dimming, enhanced hue and color-temperature control profiles, and a sophisticated effects engine.
The LumenDimM6 has six channels, ideal for red/green/blue/amber/warm-white/cool-white (RGBAWW) color-mixing. The RC4 Wireless Hue/Saturation/Level (HSL) Color Controller for the RGB channels delivers best-in-class color consistency over the entire dimming range, by ensuring precise primary color ratios even at very low dimmer levels using 19-bit (524,288 step) dimming. The mini-plug wired DMX data port can be used with a range of RC4 DMX cables, including 3-pin and 5-pin male and female XLR adapters. The most common adapter is the RC4DMX5FA with 5-pin female XLR connector. This port can output DMX data to nearby fixtures including fog machines, moving lights, and projector dousers. The DMX port can also be configured as a DMX input, allowing the LumenDimM4 to be used as a wired dimmer.
Either wireless or wired, a comprehensive RDM implementation includes E1.37 dimmer configuration parameters, numerous status sensors (voltage, temperature, current), and each individual dimmer appears as an RDM sub-device.
How to include the 800 Series Dimmer switch to your smart home network?
1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub or controller as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller in inclusion mode
3. Tap the UPPER paddle of the switch 3 times very quickly to finalize the inclusion process
4. A new dimmer (or multilevel switch) device will appear on your controller's device list
