Hi everyone!

I'm just taking a pole to see if the Dec 13th people can still make
it.

https://sites.google.com/site/oshbleedingheartsclub/home

I am working on 5 dates for 2011. I think the first one is Jan 21st,
(my bday hope you can come)

We served last night.Lots of people. Most the food disappeared
quickly.

Rob/Lori: Chicken parmessean - GONE - It was the oregano, they win.
Andrea: Almond beans - 90% gone. I loved the crunch and sweetness
Linda: Sweet potatoes: GONE: sweet!
Gaby: Salad - 90 % GONE. She added apples to it that made it crunch
and sweet
Mike: Brownies: Well, there was a big pile of crumbles, they didn't
turn out very good but nice try.

Gaby and I have this ongoing discussion about are we helping or
hurting people serving food. Be interesting to hear what others think,
maybe at the bar on Dec 13th we could pick it up there.

OK, thanks a ton to helping out again! Let me know about Dec 13th.

Love ya,
dreez

Mike, the brownies were great, just in pieces doesn't mean not good :-)

Pole for helping or not - Helping, they all appreciated it so much!  We have a great group that give so much (and cook so well!)

Linda, new name for your sweet potatos "Sweet Potato Scrumptious!"  The story Rob told you... that was the name we had for Diana's sweet potatos and yours were right up there in taste!  Fantastic!  You'll have to send the recipe for Mike to post.

It was all so good and the colorful presentation was the best.

Mike, Rob and I will sign up for one of the upcoming dates in 2011, but December isn't going to work for us.  Thanks for all you do!

I'm in on the 13th.

KC

I think it is helpful. Wondering why you think it is not.....

I see my name is on the list for Dessert or Fruit but my name is not at the top. I would like to be there on the 13th and am also curious why you think it's not helpful.

I am taking roll call now, and then we'll do food assignments next week after everyone weighs in.

Lori: I updated for December. You are going to miss Xmas songs!!! bummer
KC: You are in
Julie: You are in, copy and paste problem.
Helpful: We have laws that prohibit feeding animals in parks, because in winter they starve. But there are no laws
protecting our most vulnerable humans from becoming dependent on food handouts. Is that right? Give them fishing
poles instead of fish? Why do I volunteer - for me or for them? Am I selfish doing this for me? How many people have
I really helped in 6 years become self sufficient? Does that matter, or is the fact I am giving? How do I feel when
I know one of them is riding the system, on disability but smoking & drinking while eating our food? Is there a more effective way we can volunteer to change this person's life? Do they really want to change?

This discussion may take 2 beers, instead of the normal 1. I'll buy.

Hi All,

Can't make it the 13th.  Arriving back from Vail (snowboarding) and doing a "toys for tots" that evening.

Is anyone interested in seeing "127 hours"?  I think I got the hours right.  About the climber who cut his arm off after a boulder fell on it.  I've listened to the CD book "Caught Between A Rock and a Hard Place".

Let me know

Reminder on times:

I will try and get there around 5:45 to 6pm. If you have a lot to prepare you might want to come early too.
We serve at 7pm.- 7:30pm. 1/2 hour for cleanup.
They have tools, but may want to bring sharp knives (Andrea maybe bring your knife sharpener??)

People are asking me about what time at the bar because they want to join discussion. We'll say 8:15 to 8:30

Not sure what I'll bring for side dish yet but green bean casserole sounds like it might go well with the pork roast. That or stuffing or something homey. Service for 50?

Greetings:

The pork is cooked, sliced and ready to go. Unfortunately, I am going to have to just drop it off and not be a help tonight. I apologize but I have to work with a colleague to finish writing a Final Exam that our students are taking tomorrow. I will do double duty next time.

Kathleen
