Help needed with modifying the expirycheck module

I have modified the expirycheck module to check the password age of the user and redirect the login to about2expire.php. The about2expire page provides a simplesamlphp authentication link. A user would be redirected back to the about2expire page. I would like to not show the about2expire page when pressing the authentication link.

Can I get the expirycheck to detect the destination or the SP?
