We are looking at SimpleDBM as a replacement for our in-house dbm
replacement.

In looking here I see that the project is licensed under GPL and not
LGPL.

Is there any reason for this, as I believe that since we have a
proprietary product, that we could not include SimpleDBM in it,
whereas with LGPL, we have to use it as is, and provide under LGPL any
changes that we make to the package itself and not all of our code.

Thanks for helping me clarify and understand where things stand.

Cheers,
Alain

Hi,

I am happy to change the license to LGPL. Please let me know if that
would help.

That would be fantastic as o/w we can't go there. We don't mind and
even like to participate and help improve many open source components
that we use, but its license still has to allow us to develop our
software.

Thanks

Hi,

I was wondering whether GPL with Classpath Exception is preferable to
LGPL? I am open to either; not sure what the impact is. Please let me
know if you think one is better than the other.

Thanks and Regards

They are essentially the same from our perspective and either one is
ok for us.

Hi,

I have created Issue 74 (http://code.google.com/p/simpledbm/issues/
detail?id=74) to track this change.
Chose to go with classpath exception.

Thank you so much for such a quick update.

Looking forward to a successful use and integration of SimpleDbm. I'll keep you posted.
