easycap driver?

Would I be correct in assuming the reason my easycap (syntek not em28xx) device doesn't work is because it isn't supported?

My guess is that's probably correct.  I have never used an easycap, we haven't don't much in the way of handling on the fly encoding devices, we typically deal with things like webcams.  You may have to compile openCV with FFMpeg support for it, but to be honest I've never used one and not sure how compatible it is.
