Upgrade from 1.6 to 1.6.5

Hello.

I have a Joomla 1.5 site that has about 40 different videos all using
your player in various custom module positions throughout the site. I
want to upgrade to 1.6.5 but:

1. When I try to install 1.6.5 on top of 1.6 it tells me that the
directory already contains a module and that I can't proceed.
2. If I uninstall 1.6 and then install 1.6.5, all of my existing video
modules disappear from the site/database.

Is there a way to upgrade from 1.6 to 1.6.5 without having to
completely re-create my 40 separate instances of this module? Any help
is greatly appreciated.
