Does someone know the background to this song? Why it got no release? I never heard this before and discovered now on youtube. Brilliant song i think.

Hi Lars, the song was kicking around from the Sparkle years and potentially was going to be included in Once Upon a Time. As the band often do, they revisited an older song from the vaults, in this case People Stand Up when Trevor Horn agreed to produce SFY. The sound and lyrics better fitted the sentiment of the album. They did a demo at Trevor's studio before they went up to Bonnie Wee Studios in Perthshire to record the album. I don't know why it was cut but it would have sat on the tracklist far better than the likes of Kick it In or Take a Step Back which imo are really poor songs. It was to be a bside for This is your Land but they chose Saturday Girl.

Thanks Gordon for the background information, I'm curious what treasures are still stored in the archives of the record companies in the dark cellars. And one wonders if they will ever be released.

How come all of a sudden this has made it's way to YouTube??

A really cool song. Agreed makes you wonder what else is there. Also why this wasn't on the SFY deluxe set!
