CAT 2007
Q consider integers x,y and z. find the minimum possible value of x^2
+ y^2 + z^2

A : x+y+z=89
B among x,y and z, two are equal
mark
1) if answrd by A alone
2) if B alone
3) both
4) cannot be answrd

the answer to this question is 1)
my doubt is, cant the ans be 2) also ?

There won't be a unique solution from (B) even though u can fine the answer. So, ans is (1) only.

Lalit can you clarify how can you get any answer using only statement
2.becuase what i feel is that for statement two to be meaningful it
has to be combined with statement 1.
