Two people start swimming from the opposite ends of a swimming pool
simultaneously. They meet at a distance of 410 m from one of the ends
and continue swimming further till they reach the opposite ends. They
take rest for 1 hr each and then start off the return journey. Now
they meet at a distance of 230 m from the other end. Find the length
of the pool.

speed of A = a
speed of B = b
length of pool = x
At first meeting point....
410/a = (x-410)/b
=> b/a = (x-410)/410

At second meeting point....
(x-410+230)/a = (410+x-230)/b

solve for x using value of b/a from first..... x comes out to be 1000

In my opinion it doesn't matter when they stopped...travel time is same for both and rest time is also same....only difference is in distance covered which depends on their speed only.....

I think we need to take the time diff of them reaching end points , as their speeds are diffrnt.....B>A.....then we need to consider the dist covrd by B wen A was resting....

Bt coincidently both the methods gave same sol.

no their travel time isnt necc the same... their speeds r differnt... so v cnt compare.. i think the soln might be wrng... or coincidntly givin the same ans... their travel time wil only be the same when they reach their end points at the same time... which is not given.

if the time taken by both from first meeting point till second meeting point is same and rest time is also same  then how can the travel time be different.....

If both the travel time is same , then why on the return journey they are not meeting at the same point.... If their speeds are different , den how d time is same ???
