Bootstrap plugin when sbt changes 0.11.2 -> 0.11.3->0.12.0

Hi,

Sorry if this is documented somewhere, I have not been able to find the solution.

How can I compile an old plugin using sbt 0.11.3 for building, while compiling the source against the sbt 0.12.0?  I think SBT does this itself, but I have not been able to figure out how it is actually doing this.

Try https://github.com/jrudolph/sbt-cross-building.

sbt doesn't need to compile itself against old sbt versions, so it doesn't need to do this. It just uses the previous release for building.
