Troy/Albany: after years of research I am thinking of getting an 8" organic cotton batting futon mattress (cotton grown in TX by a cotton-coop), wrapped in eco-wool (from a wool coop in Washington), with an organic shell -- is anyone else interested in a toxin free mattress (no fire retardants necessary because wool is a natural  barrier)? So, Seeds for Changing Times: a group sharing on topics such as these:

varieties that do well in a wide range of different weather conditions

    good sources of seeds

    seed saving know how

anything that would be wise to grow more of (grains, nuts, etc.)

    seed/plant swaps

permaculture and growing of food and herbs

4 season growing (high tunnels, greenhouses, root cellaring, overwintering some crops, etc.)

I'm definitely interested. I've been thinking it's time to replace my 10-year-old futon. But I don't want such a thick one. What place are you getting yours from? and do they have thinner ones--4 to 6"? I'd like one capable of being rolled up to move it. Plus, after having a think futon for 10 years, the center has compressed quite a bit. My thinking is that with a thinner futon, when the center compresses there's still less difference between the center and the outer rim.
