Mike................I can't get there either now! I only downloaded the smart curves plugin a few hours ago. Hopefully this is only a temporary bug in the works.

Do you have the plugin yourself? If not, we'll have to try and put that to rights.

Thanks for the post Mike.

Chels..........Have you tried one of the links? Me and Mike can't get the web page up. It really is worth having the plugin. So if for whatever reason you can't get the download. Let me know.

BTW. Just in case you where thinking that Elements 5 already has a curves tool. The Smart curve download is not the same as the Colour Curves in Elements 5. You cannot work on B&W images with the E5 colour curves. Smart Curve is better in other ways as well.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Installus working keygen setup free

Download Zip https://geags.com/2yMSAg

I got thru to the web page and got the software. I've installed it and ran Elements and it was in filter menu and worked when I clicked it. I don't know much about curves but I had a photo open and did a little playing with it and got it to change the photo. So, I can say that the plugin does work with ver. 3.

Hello...I am new to the group...I have PSE Version 3 (also nik colorporo 2.0 with a few filters) with a trial of version 5. I also have the wacom pen & tablet...which is really cool to use....
I am just learning the basics....I have tried to download plug-ins but they never seem to work for me???'
Any suggestions?
PSEFrank: you have some really nice tuturials in your photostream..
Hope I get to learn much more here.

moorz84, can you provide some more information? What plugins are you having trouble with? I have v3 and have installed a couple of plugins, such as the smart curves and the layer mask plugins. Are these the plugins you're having trouble with?
ages ago(permalink)

If you download the smart curves from the link above into a folder and unzip it, then place the contents of that unzipped folder in your plugins folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 3.0\Plug-Ins

Do you know how to unzip a file? If you have Windows XP all you have to do is right click and choose extract. After that a window will open and you can copy those three files into the location I mentioned above.

Okay, I am trying to deal with the unzipping business related to layers style.

I can't unzip.

When I show the file, there is no 'unzip' option. I am only asked to 'open' it.

How do I unzip a zipped file??? THANKS.

This is an awesome thread guys (and gals)! I just joined this group per recommendation from Frank (seen in a different PS group). Not sure if anyone is aware, but PSE4 doesn't accept RAW files from a lot of newere DSLRs out there. However, I found the update/extension (from Adobe) needed to accept the new RAW files from newer cameras (I have the Canon EOSE Digital Rebel XTi). If anyone needs the link, I can find it and post it unless that has been done elsewhere! Like I said, I just joined the group and havne't explored the rest of the threads yet!

Okay. I still have problems. Thanks for extract info... but..... I hit 'extract', and then the wizard box comes up. Then I don't know what to do. What should I do with the wizard box??
ages ago(permalink)

what type of program do you have for zipped/unzip? is it winzip?
do you have windows xp? if so:
If you have Windows XP all you have to do is right click and choose extract. After that a window will open and you can copy files into the location mentioned above.

I followed all the steps and still do not get the SmartCurve plug-in to appear in my Filters. Help?
I have photoshop Elements 4.0
Downloaded, extracted to Photoshop Elements 4.0 --> Plug-Ins. Restarted the program. Not there.

Are you sure? All the way at the bottom of the filter menu there should be easy.Filter and move your mouse over it and a sub menu appears for smart curves. It's not there?
ages ago(permalink)

Ok I'm sorry. I'm a total idiot! I'm embarassed to even tell you that I was looking in style & effects palette box instead of just clicking on the Filters menu at the top! Sorry & thanks for trying to help. By the way, I love this group! The actions I've downloaded are all awesome. Maybe now I can learn how to actually USE curves

I just downloaded and installed the layer mask plugin....and it does show up in my version of Elements. Question is, how do I apply it? It's there in the dropdown as a choice, but i don't see a way to actually choose it. Should it show up as another layer in my layers palette? What should I click on to make that happen?
ages ago(permalink)

@bekahpaige, I'm glad you were able to find it. I kind of thought with the downloading of actions that go one place and downloading plugins that go in another that it was a problem of looking in the wrong place. Don't be embarassed. I've pulled my share of mistakes. :)

@Got Picz, great. I need to to work on it too. I'm not very adept at using that.

@Kim, you'll be on a layer you want it applied to and then double click that icon. From there you'll work it as a mask on that layer. Good for say if you want to mask out a portion that has been blurred to show detail below, color, or so forth. Make sure the rectangle is highlighted on the layer and select the brush tool and brush with black as foreground.

Maybe that's the problem--although layer mask shows up in the dropdown list, there is no icon for it. All I have is the apple with "original" under it. Can I do something to fix this?
ages ago(permalink)

I guess you could try installing it again Kim. It's been so long since I installed it I can't remember the steps but I'd guess that you put a file in the wrong folder somewhere. Or maybe you didn't grab both of them when you did it. I believe there were two files you should have moved to that folder.

It really doesn't do anymore for you than using an adjustment layer grouped with the layer to make a clipping mask. It's the same thing.

Please could somebody help? I can't see any 'plug-in', file(s) at all. I've installed 'Photo Actions' previously, so I know about making all files visible! What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to create a new file and name it 'Plug-Ins', would that work, or is there more to it than that? I am using PSE5.
ages ago(permalink)

Thanks GrfxDziner, but alas no joy. I download Smart Curve plug-in, and unzipped it, and placed the contents in 'special effects' folder. But all I get is a error box which states- 'Could not place the document because no parser or file format can open the file'.
I then created a new folder, and placed all the smart curve files in, but just got the same error message. If there is no easy way round this I'll just delete it and do without. I'm no computer whiz!
But why have I not got a plug-in folder? Does PSE5 not have them as standard?
ages ago(permalink)

D.R.H.--I made a folder in My Documents called plugins and put the smart curve filter in there. In Elements 6 I directed to that folder in the preference box. Mine works . I have all my filters in My Documents in the plugins folder that I made.
in elements 6 click on "edit' then "Preference" and then "plug ins" You can direct the program to look anywhere you tell it to for Plugins.

pegjo. I've renamed the smart curve folder to 'Plug-Ins'. Put it in My Documents. Directed Elements in preferences, to look there.
Question is, how do you access this 'plug-in' from the edit screen? There is no icon to click on, or plug-in command in the Artwork and effects pallet to activate it?

D.R.H.
Like Geoff said--the smart curves does not show up in the edit screen. All plug-ins (8BF files) will show up as a filter. Click on the Filters menu and you should see it there.
I am assuming you clicked on "Preferences" under Edit and then clicked on "Plug ins" and there you can tell the program where to look for additional plugins.
I like to put all the plug ins in My Documents so as not to slow up the program when it is loading. If you have a lot of plugins filed in the program it will be slow loading.
Hope this helps you.

edited to say_-Ooops- I see you found it. Great!

I use adobe Elements 2 on Windows Vista. I know my elements is a dinosaur :-) But is there a free mask plug in out there some place that will work with this elements ? I been looking everywhere . I really need to upgrade but at this time funds won't allow it.

Yes, thanks that's perfect. Try opening the "layer Mask Thumbs".psd file in PSE. Save it 4 different times, each time with the exact name as the .atn file including the underscores. Save it each time as a .psd file. have them in the folder, and move that "layer mask thumbs" file out of the folder

If the "Layer Mask Thumbs" .psd file won't open for you, that's okay. Just make a new file 50 pixels x 50 pixels of any thing. Snowflake, cat's eye, anything at all. Save this four times like I mentioned above with the exact name as the atn files.....and save them as .psd

Once you get that done and in the folders (remember to remove that thumbs file with the wrong name that's there now), then sut your computer down and re bott, that will rebuild the files. Let us know if it fails too, and do another screen cap like you did. Thanks, that helps a bunch :)
