I've been watching the mailing list for general announcements/news on
the status of Exhibit 3... I can see there is almost daily activity on
Github, which is awesome. Really exciting product.

I am curious though... was the Library of Congress funding only good
through 2011? There seems to be an outline of efforts posted on the
site, but nothing seems to have been extended into 2012 at all.

Where is the Exhibit 3 project now and what (if any) major hurdles
still need to be addressed?

Thanks,
jgro

You're right that the funded project has ended, so now we (i.e,
Zepheira and MIT) are finalizing the code, documentation and packaging
up a release candidate for mid-Feb. Stay tuned for that announcement
and we appreciate your patience. The remaining hurdles are for Exhibit
3.0 to have exact feature parity (or better) with the current Exhibit
2.2, so we'll document what gaps we know of and be looking for
community help to close them over the next year. Also, the code for
Exhibit 3 is on github now so everyone's welcome to try it out any
time. More soon!

Right, the Library of Congress-funded project has ended so now we're
just wrapping up a release candidate and finishing the doc for release
mid-month. The code is already available on Github as you saw, and the
developers continue to work on it (and will continue to do so after
the release, and we hope that others will soon join them!) We'll post
a proposed roadmap along with the code/doc so everyone can chime in on
whether it's right, what else is needed, and who can tackle what parts
of it.
