Most times I can drag an airport into the flight plan window and it will add
but sometimes it doesn't and the 'no go' cursor shows.
At the moment I can't drag Heathrow in as my starting airport. But I have
been able to drag others in before but maybe not the destination.

I can drag in radio aids from around Heathrow!
Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong here?

You have to be sure that the "info window" is showing when you click and
hold the mouse button. If you move off of the item, airport, runway or
navaid, just a smidgeon, It won't go with the mouse.

An alternative is to Right click on it and choose "Send to Flightplan".

Peter.

If you want to export the FSNav flightplan to FS2004, you HAVE to use
the airport... Using only a rwny at either end will not work.

Suddenly I'm having problems even GETTING the airport info to show up
with a mouse hover.

Where before, hovering over the "dark brown circle" that marks the
"visual center" of the airport would work, but now it's not working at
all... :( <sigh>

Bill,

I often make a plan from runway to runway...I only drag the runway end for
this. Such plans export perfectly to FS2004 with no problem. If the FSNav
plan includes a SID then that gets exported too. Then when you load the
exported plan into FS2004 with flightplanner, the ATC will expect you to fly
the SID route that you planned. The SID track will also show in the GPS so
you can lock onto it and allow the aircraft to just follow the GPS line on
the aircraft's Autopilot. I always use it like this and just refer to FSNav
as a moving map and never use its Fly Plan button. This method allows smooth
integration with FS2004's ATC all the way to where you are vectored off the
plan to the destination approach. At this point I could fly the STAR by
cancelling the IFR Plan but usually take the ATC vectoring as that way is
more like real life in Europe.

Regards,
Peter.

Lucky you, Peter. Every time I've tried to export from FSNav and did
not have an apt. at both ends, I've gotten an "Export Failure."

Try this Bill...place your pointer over the runway end till it calls it an
ILS. Now right click and "Send to flightplan".

Do the same with the destination airport. Finally select the aircraft to be
used, the height to cruise and tell it to make plan.

That plan should export with no problems to FS2004.

Regards,
Peter.

Well whatcha know! It did work...

I just wish I could find out why I'm suddenly (over the last two months)
unable to bring up the "airport information" using mouse hover on the
dark red circle.

Previously, I had no problems with getting the full "Airport
Information" popup, but now - even when zooming in closely - I cannot
get it... :(

It has worked just fine for years, but now...

I FP using the SIDs and STARS in FSNav. The RW is listed and then I export
the plan to FS9. When I load the file it shown the original airport and the
SID - not the RW and FS9 flies the SID with ATC. I accept the variation of
the STAR from ATC as Peter said that is usual in real works situation (There
are too many heading changes with FS9 ATC but I can live with that).
