on my new notebook I found a OEM version (German) of MS FS2004.
They used the "NoCD"-FS9.exe ( !!! ) and supplied a MS OEM DVD.

So I could not install the 9.1 patch.
I decided to uninstall this version and installed my tin boxed English
version.

I suppose everybody can imagine where the NoCD is from and is not afraid
anymore
of using it

;-)

Hans,

This version is known about...you could just have replaced the FS9.exe from
your CD and then the FS9.1 Update would have worked.

Regards,
Peter.

The update does install on the OEM DVD version, are you telling me it
refused to do so on your German FS?

My "CD-FS9.exe" is English (US), the OEM supplied FS9.exe on the harddisk
of the notebook was German (504KB), and the FS9.exe on the DVD supplied
with the notebook was German (504KB) too.

Anyway, I prefer the English version because ATC in German language is far
from
"real".

After installing my English version to the notebook I did the "rename trick"
and copied my complete
"tower installation" via an external USB HD to the notebook and everything
works fine now
after I have modified the FS9.CFG to the settings of the tower installation
(whenever is was reasonable).

yes, I am pretty sure about this.

(Maybe my fault was to try first the English patch and after the error
I tried the German patch)

After some thinking about it, you could be right (like always ..)

I did not even think about installing the patch to the OEMs fs9.exe because
it was
a short "NoCD"-fs9.exe.

I renamed it and copied my (English) long CD-FS9.exe to the notebook.
Then I tried first the English patch and then the German patch ....
