hi all...well...after buying flight sim 2004....I can honestly tells you it
absolutely kills 2002!
they have improved their game engine...because the eye candy is better than
2002..but with no loss of frame rates..!
I guess the only people who dont want to part with 2002 are the ones with
all the add ons and downloaded planes...but I can honestly tell you..once
you see 2004 you will say to yourself, why didnt i change earlier!
An like , who uses that old dinosaur 98 anymore!!!I think the last time i
saw my flight sim 98 disc was using it as a frisbee for the dog to
catch...:-)
So come on guys. (and gals)..travel down to walmart...or in
australia..Harvey Norman :-)..and part with your green backs

cheers from the 21st century...:-0

Well, I don't agree.
I have FS2002 and FS2004. Under FS2002 I have almost all Lago Meshes, a lot
of added airports, aicrafts etc.
I use FS Sky World (clouds) and ActiveSky (weather). With those add-on's my
FS2002 looks much better than FS2004 in which MS impoved, in my opinion,
clouds and weather engine. Game engine..hmm...maybe it is better but not an
extreme improvement over FS2002. FS2004 is good but I'll stay with my FS2002
a long time.

I don't know what you're talking about that FS Sky World & ActiveSky make
FS2002's weather look better than FS2004...I use both as well, and IMO
FS2004 is much better.

However, I still have a LOT of add-ons that only work in FS2002, so I still
use (and will use) FS2002 for my jet flying for a long time. However, 95% of
my GA flying is now in FS2004.

I must respectfully disagree as well. I have both sims, and have 2
initial impressions of FS2004. The new clouds and flight dynamics are
an improvement over FS2002, but I guess I expected a magnitude of
improvement similar to comparing FS2000 and FS2002. I will freely admit
FS2004 appears to be an improvement over FS2002, but not to nearly the
level I expected. Secondly, my machine DOES NOT like to run FS2004
smoothly, even though the frame rates appear to remain in acceptable
levels. Due to these 2 reasons, I have opted to stay with the smooth,
fluid, and still very good looking FS2002 for the time being. If I
update my machine in the future, I will give FS2004 another try... (Scott)

I cannot see what is so great and different with fs2004, unless it is simply
how "nice" the clouds now look, or that you now have signs at airports
(which all the add-ons I have acquired also have, and are probably more
accurate)

Are the flight models any more realistic i.e. the handling and response of
the aircraft ? Or is it just "prettier" to look at?
If not, I'll stick to X-Plane for flightsim realism and FS2002 for the nice
scenery.

Graham.

I'm totally agree with "konraf". I also have:
- All the Lago Meshes ( + FSLandclass)
- A lots and lots of airport addons (both commercial and really good
"freeware ones")
- Airplanes (also both commercial and really good "freeware ones").

I did get FS2004 in a present a couple a weeks ago, installed it, tryed it
out and my conclusion is this:
- "The only thing that actually looks better in FS2004 today in comparision
to my FS2002 installation is the clouds!
Everything else looks better today in my FS2002 installation until it's
possible to update all my addons and so on."

So there is no actuall reason for me to install FS2004 until sometime next
year!
