Every IFR Rated aircraft has to have a back up ADI, obviously powered by a
separate power source (alternate vaccum, or electrical). That's in order to
prevent this ADI to fail just when it is needed (when the others fails).
Main ADI can fail most of times due to a vaccum failure, or an internal ADI
failure.
When it is due to an internal failure, in a two-pilot-IFR-Rated, normally
there are still two ADIs for backup (co-pilot, and the backup ADI).
When it is a vaccum failure (let's supose every alternate vaccum had
failed), there are still one... the backup AH or ADI.
Now... I'm looking for a REAL backup Artificial Horizon for my panel. I mean
one that should not fail when Flight Simulator 2000 tells ADI should fail.
Is it possible?
I understand that the gauge has programmed certain response for a failure
condition. When failure condition is found, it's response will be "freeze"
for instance.
In that case, may be it is possible to make an ADI that never fails? If so,
it will be pretty much effective as back up ADI.
Do you know of any gauge that works this way?
I need some advise about this... thanks.
