Gearing up Week

Dear SG cohorts, Just want to add my hearty “huzzahs” to a very successful Parol/parolito workshop! Even though we ran short of the frames, it just gives us a gage for next year so we can provide MORE frames for the willing and eager participants. 

I just want to do a recap so far of the food preparations as we head into the coming week towards Simbang Gabi.

Here’s what we have so far:

Carmencita: 

lumpia for 200(chicken, veggie, beef/pork)

Pancit (veggie)

Sapsoy(mixed veggie sauté)

Gloria:

Dad’s adobo 

Cindy Cawaling:

Fresh fruits

Jen:

Leche Flan

Eloisa:

Vegan cassava cake

Amber and Aaron:

A Wonderful surprise dish TBD

Drinks? Rice (white and brown)? 

Please correct or add to the above list if I left out anything .

I took a Quick Look at the plates spoons etc. supplies, and to me it looks like we would need more.  Caprice, would the parish be able to restock these supplies before Sunday?

Roger will confirm with Caprice about setting up the hall the night before. On Sunday we can be in the hall before 9am for food prep.

Lastly, I just wanted to share this news piece that came up in my FB page. What a true demonstration our Filipino ingenuity and spirit of Kàpwa, especially during these current times.

In addition to Josie’s 10 cups of cooked rice, I can bring 8 cups cooked rice. Gloria will bring cooked brown rice.  If others can bring cooked rice, that’ll be helpful. 

Cindy, Lauren and I discussed desserts on Sunday. Cindy will pick up an Ube cake from Delite on Saturday and place in the social hall fridge over night. She’ll also pick up non- Filipino desserts.

A million thanks for all of your hardwork in making sure that our Simbang Gabi liturgy and salu-salo happened this Advent Season!!!

It really helped me transition from my world of academics to this season of Advent - albeit late but landed nevertheless.

With the Winter Solstice upon us, thank YOU for sharing your light as it guides me in this often-dark world of ours.
