Hello Friends and Community Members,
Most of you know Sara, Juan, Clemente, or Araceli Cotto. Some of you were even blessed to meet sweet Salvador. He was born 14 years ago today! If he were still with us, he would be in 8th grade, preparing to follow Juan and Clemente’s steps to O’Dea.
Of course, Salvador will not be heading to O’Dea in the fall. However, Sara and Juan wanted to ensure he could still be a part of the O’Dea community. They have set up a legacy fund to help other boys join the Fighting Irish. The fund was launched last night in honor of Sal’s birthday, and the goal is to reach $25,000 by the end of today. If it is within your means, please consider donating to the Salvador Cotto Legacy Fund.
I have known Juan and Sara for nearly 20 years. They are leaders in our parish community and our civic region. Sara has volunteered in countless ways and for countless hours at St. Therese. She was trained in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and co-led sessions with me for 8 years.
I remember that Sara called out those of us who were in attendance at Sal's funeral. She told us that she would survive this horrible tragedy only through our support. She said she was counting on us, her community, to be present for her, Juan, and Clemente. This is one way to show that support for the Cottos. Thank you for considering joining me and contributing to Sal’s Legacy. Please pass this on to others who know and love the Cottos.
Peace be with you all,
Nicole St. Hilaire
