Hi guys,

One thing I would like to see in Silverstripe is urls that reflect the sitetree.
Is this on the cards for any future release of SS?
Either way, does anyone know if there is a hack/class/whatever to do this?
Especially important for SEO and superbly beneficial for the blog module

Cheers guys
Craig

Hi Craig,

I've attempted to get it going for blog, with failing results - noted here:

Might be some help, generally it was getting so messy I gave up and decided to post my findings on that ticket for future reference.

Cheers,
Sean

sorry let me give an example:

say you had the following site tree:

-- services
----- service 1
----- service 2

then you could use the url /services/service-1

That would be awesome

Cheers

Thanks Sean.
I think this would be a good feature in general. Maybe even automatically rather than having to type in the nested url.
Anyway, we'll have a play around with it here and if we come with anything that works, we'll contribute it

Cheers

I made a hack to add nested URLs to a few small websites...you can download it at http://www.flyingmonkey.co.nz/assets/FlyingMonkeyURLHacks.zip.

It's not thoroughly tested, outside a few small brochure sites but you can have a look anyway.  It still can't have duplicate URLSegments (like say /product/about and /service/about) because that's just another level of complicated.  There are probably other things missing as well, like broken link detection, but it's a start.

Cheers,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

Do you have a diff of what you've changed?

Cheers,
Sean

That would make sense...but there are only three or four changes (I forget) to the core code, so they're easy to find by searching like it says in the txt file.
