Hey Felipe (and anybody interested in UX),

Have you thought about the "page versions" panel design?
You probably have this on your list somewhere already,
and I'm aware we have to take things step by step :)

I'm bringing this up now because it might influence the panel design
and navigation in general.

There's several parts to it:
- Version listing (with author and date, optionally including unpublished versions)
- Comparison view between two versions
- Restore to an older version
- Navigate through version (older/newer)

The 2.4 style versions panel displays permanently alongside the content,
making it natural to trigger between "edit" and "readonly" modes of the page content.
Would you see the 3.0 versions panel as a new sub-entry under "Edit page",
taking up the whole right panel? Alternatively it could be a dropdown
on the "edit page" panel itself, similiar to the Apple wiki implementation:

Thoughts?
Ingo

Good that you brought this there are many items on the list to be done, as we are doing all the page specifics under "Edit page"

there are several parts so it deserves a entire section on the subnav.. we'll be working on it on the next iteration but the flow is very much what you just said
1) Click history -> open the list of versions
2) click in ont of the versions opens the diff (comparison) screen - here we could have a next and previous navigation
3) Click restore sends you back to the edit page and you can take it from there... if for some reason you choose the wrong version you can click on history again and pick the previous version..

we'll need to clarify the details but thats the general idea

what do you think?

Good screenshot*. I think it's slightly counter intuitive to have two different menus on a page (i.e. Content, Settings, Reports, History) versus Main Content, Meta Data, Content Snippets.

I'm getting the feeling that the top tabs are for content, the left tabs for non-content. But that separation of purpose may need to be made more intuitive through clearer labeling or improved visual design.
