Repository now uses relative svn:externals; svn 1.5+ needed.

Hi everyone,

In order to reliably support both the svn://svn.silverstripe.com/silverstripe
and http://svn.silverstripe.com methods of accessing the repository,
we've had to rewrite the svn:externals entries as relative paths.
This is a feature that was introduced in svn 1.5.0.

So, if you get weird error messages about the svn:externals format
being wrong, please check that you are using svn 1.5.0 or greater.

This came up because we had dealt with several groups that were
completely unable to access the repository via http://svn.silverstripe.com,
because of proxy servers. In most cases, upgrading a svn binary is
considerably easier than replacing major network infrastructure, so
this seemed like the best way forward.

Thanks,
Sam

Can I suggest adding information on this on http://silverstripe.org/subversion/?
Especially for Mac OS X users, as the SVN binary shipped with
Leopard is 1.4.4.

Good catch. What does Snow Leopard have, btw? If not 1.5 then that's a
shame.

Yeah, fixed. We added into to a bunch of other places over all the
sites where svn is mentioned, but missed that one :-P

Now that I finally have Snow Leopard, it has 1.6.2, so should be able
to handle the repository URLs fine.
