SilverSplash with open-mash network?

Can silversplash be combined with some kind of open-mash-like
networking system? Does SilverSplash perform ad inserting on router or
it has to have dedicated pc server (gateway). I would appreciate some
info on architecture layout...

You can read about SilverSplash features on the blog post here:

It does need to run on a gateway device. The ads are shown on the
captive portal screens - you can see the screenshots on the blog post.
