I’ll try to make it in.
TAP OUT TUESDAY! Yeeh Haw a new ride, for a new year.
This ride will leave the Hike and Bike 9:30 AM or 10 AM depending on how cold it is.
Hard to frickin HARD pace out Hwy 90 to white signal. Goal is to work on speed. The Mike's and myself did it today and we all suffered.
As Jeff would say. Hope to see you all on our new FAMILY ride

To whom it may concern.
I signed up on this list serve hoping to find an an avenue to ride and meet some folks. I am new to Silver City almost 3 months here and so far this list serve and riding group seems way way way way out of my league to ride with anyone here. I am in shape but don’t do freaking 60miles + mountain bike rides nor 60+ miles road rides. I am no longer a rodie. Regardless, I am wanting to meet some cool folks and maybe get a ride in once in a while.
Anyone that would like to show someone new to the area some cool mountain biking trails and is a intermediate to to advance rider please hit me back with messages.
Also looking for family friendly folks to hang out with and get a bike ride in once in a while
Hope to hear from some folks
Martin

| Martin, We can find people for you to ride with. It's a little easier in the summer with more groups of riders going out. It doesnt hurt to show up for some of these rides. You dont have to ride for the whole distance. I spent YEARS getting dropped on MTB and ROAD rides and it was always fun to see how long I could hang on the next ride. There is not one cyclist in town that is a registered racer above CAT 3. Most of us are CAT 4/5 wich is the beginer catagory for road racing and cat 3 being inermediate. There are a few of us that are expert level MTB racers(Who get thier butt's kicked by HUGE time margins compared to the fast guys), but the rest are beginer and sport level racers/riders. We do plenty of shorter MTB rides on the
weekends and during the week, but they arent posted most of the time. It seems we mainly post out bigger rides to brag about how cool we THINK we are. Stop by the shop some time. J --- On Wed, 12/22/10, Gary Berg <ga...@engineersinc.com> wrote: |

Hi Martin (and anyone else who isn't out to prove they are more badass then their fellow riders),
I am also a ride who likes to ride bikes for FUN not to annihilate my competition. I am kind of out of shape at the moment after having spent the fall working a lot but I have been riding for a wee while and would consider myself an intermediate to advanced, though not an aggressive, rider. I have had my spirits dampened recently by falling on an agave; coming out of the experience looking a bit like St. Sebastian; but would be happy to have someone to ride with to help me get back in the saddle. I have been on the listserv for a couple of months but have steered clear of the group rides due to the fact that the tone of the listserve makes them sound very, very competitive so I probably won't be meeting you there but if you want to get in touch my email is hillary...@nau.edu. I have also moved here recently; September; and am hoping to expand my social horizons. Previously, I was living in Flagstaff working on my M.S. in Environmental Science.
Cheers,
Hillary
We all have different ideas of what working hard on the bike means to us as individuals. Some enjoy a nice moderate ride, a social ride, a “TRUE” recovery ride, a ride where they see purple elephants and other visions as they lean towards passing out. That is the great thing about cycling it is truly your Journey.
Though it seems people took things wrong or may be offended by nothing but Hammer down rides this is the most interaction on this site I have seen to date. I was always under the impression this is the place to post all kind of rides from slow to whatever your fitness and ability provides.
So in closing if you have a ride you want to go on and are looking for company post it, you may be surprised who shows up.

Martin,
There are plenty of us who don't think 40 miles is an intermediate ride and have no plans to get on board with the tap out crew. Problem is we aren't as vocal on this list serve. The lurkers, like myself, only jump into the group rides at halfway and turn around points, which make for a much more relaxed 20-30 miles of road riding.
For mountain biking, I stick to the dirt roads and wide single track and avoid anything that involves rocks and head lamps. Personally, this time of year Ft. Bayard, Arenas Valley Trails, Georgetown Rd. and Fierro Rd are my hangouts but then I live in Bayard and don't want to come into town to meet at the bike shop, which is where a lot of the rides start from. If you like stumps, some jumps, and cactus in your legs head up Little Walnut trails. I frequently see bikers there on weekends. For some reason several in this group think Boston Hill is good mountain biking. It all depends on the terrain your used to and the time of day you head out too.
Welcome to SC!
