Ft Bayard Trails

Hi everyone,

I know we are all anxious to ride at Ft Bayard since it's been closed for so long but the trails are soft. Try not to mess them up. The International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) does not recommend riding on muddy trails. "Leave no Trace" look behind do you see tire tracks turn around. Fran and I managed a 15 mile ride avoiding the trails taking to the dirt roads and old highway. I was happy to see Tim out there at 630 checking the conditions of the trails. Putting thought into our riding only makes it better!

Running and walking on the other hand helps the trails to pack down especially the soft ones. Ambulation does not cause a rut. 

OK I';m not telling you what to do, only asking you to be kind to the earth, your bike and your friends.

On another note  Aldo Schools MTB team will be hosting the first ever NICA race here at Ft. Bayard! Volunteers needed and we will be posting a time to help with the trail that  will be the race course. The start finish will be at Old Ft Bayard and it will be on Sunday, August 31. Save the date!!!!

I have not been there since Jan. but those trails needed maintenance then and now it looks like an overhaul.
