I know it’s not cycling; but it qualifies as cycling adjacent.

A revitalization plan is being developed for Fort Bayard, potentially by the state or by Santa Clara. Regardless of who is leading the effort, public input is being sought and I think the cycling community cares deeply about its future.

Please see the attached flyer and I hope you can attend.

Because of the highly visible lack of marijuana shops in Silver City, I propose that the entire fort be converted into marijuana shops. Fort Bayard? That's so 19th century. Fort Blunt? Finally, the 21st century comes to the area. There's even a tollbooth that can be renovated to allow only 21 year olds and above. This is a good idea. I hope they accept it.

Marguerite,

If you have any talking points you would like to share, please email them to me. I’d gladly provide your feedback to the committee.

Thank you!  Bill has difficulties putting feeling into words;
he said he feels safe there, it is park like and offers plenty of
room to walk around, ride bikes, hike with our older dog
Hopefully, no restrictions as to folks being able to park
and hike around!

I too am unable to go to this meeting. I would like to see a beautiful county pool there. There is plenty of water and flat space. A pool and other outside activities. Please NO weed shops or grow houses. Thank you for sharing my input. I love Ft. Bayard.

Most may already know, but to be clear I think this planning process is for the historic part of Ft Bayard, where the old buildings are and the nearby surrounding area, which is owned by the State and largely leased to Santa Clara. Not the larger area where most of the trails are, which is owned by the USFS and known as the Ft Bayard Management Area by the NM Game & Fish for youth hunts.
