I have forwarded what our Southwest Conference of UCC has been up to: showing up, speaking truth to power, and BEING the United Church of Christ. This powerful article is sure to inspire.
For tomorrow's service, we have special guest speaker George Carr, a retired civil rights lawyer. He and his wife Candace are new friends to Silver City UCC, and have been rolling up their sleeves, actively working for peace and social justice with us. We are blessed for their presence! Come meet them, and join the discussion tomorrow, 2/12 at 1:30 in the fellowship hall of 1st Presbyterian (1915 N. Swan).
The following Sunday 2/19, Rev. Tina Squire joins us for Membership Sunday followed by a potluck and business meeting. Come add your voice, and let us work together to write a new narrative of American history, sourced from infinite love, ruthless compassion and guided by faith!

Dear standing committees of the SWC, I want to share with you one of the ways our conference is making a difference in the world.

Dear members of Good Shepherd, First Congregational/Phoenix, Shadow Rock, Rincon, Desert Palm, and Scottsdale Congregational churches,
On behalf of the refugees who will continue to find safe haven in our country, the aid workers who will continue to welcome strangers to our land, and on behalf of the Southwest Conference, thank you for taking a stand and helping to write the narrative of our nation in these difficult days. I am grateful to you. I am proud of you. And I look forward to continuing in the struggle for justice and peace together.
