Hello Everyone,

There's a lot going in inside the National UCC and our Southwest Conference of UCC.  I will be attending the Mission and Church Vitality Committee meeting on Oct. 21st in Phoenix, and extend an invitation for any of you who might like to join me as representatives of our Silver City UCC.  Lunch is provided!

I find these meetings to be fun and informative.  I meet like-minded people from across the southwest and according to Bill's letter it sounds like we'll be participating in a great discussion so the more the merrier.  Please let me know if you'd like to participate and I will RSVP to let them know how many to expect, and also let me know if you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free or any other dietary restrictions.

The Mission and Church Vitality Committee will meet on Saturday, Oct. 21, 10 am – 3 pm. The agenda includes:

• Hurricane and natural disaster follow up
• General Synod follow up including 3 Great Loves and ratification process for the UCC Constitution revisions
• Introducing Rev. Dr. Barb Doerrer-Peacock, Acting Associate Conference Minister
• Search process for the settled Associate Conference Minister
• An initial conversation about re-visioning Lay Academy  
• An initial conversation about the future of Camp and the Southwest Conference’s role in Youth/Young Adult ministry

 

Pastors are invited to attend with their congregation/community representatives for these important conversations. Congregation representatives are invited to bring a lay leader from their church with them too. It will help with lunch plans to RSVP to Eli Johnson (email included above).
