I have PLAN file that was done by someone I now assume was using a cracked version of the software.

I came in with the original architects previous approved plans as PDF and only needed exterior renders to show the suggested changes to the building for city planning and zoning.

The guy did good work took about 10 days of back and forth.

The city gave a conditional approval on the changes based on lumion renders and ask for official colorized elevation layouts for the file.

And suddenly the guy could not make those, they kept coming out grey / monochrome. I gave it to my dad, who I found out has x10, and he could not open it. I came here and found out it is cracked software problem X13 doesn't open on x10.

So rather than upgrade my dads software (he's not an architect) and ask him to do the work (he's not an architect), I want to find out:

1. Does CA do colorized / texture elevations to layout in X13? If it's a problem with cracked software, thats fine, but if X13, can't produce these color swatch layouts (see sample) and I need to use X12 or whatever can produce this for city. Please let me know.

2. Everything is approved, down to the color and height of fences, bus stop, all of it. So the only work I need done is 2 layout pages in PDF with swatches on page 1.

After this is submitted for the file, the project is supposed to be picked back up by original architect for mechanicals for building / engineering, but who knows, this CA cracked software issue came out of left field.

need quotes fro folks who use X13, assuming it does colorized layouts, if not other ideas with quotes.

Yes sure. please.

To be clear I don't have any experience with CA x10, I just heard my dad mention CA a couple years ago. I never expected him to do the work. The exterior was pretty much controlled by city. I have no idea what the original architect uses for software, his prices were so high it didn't make sense to use him if the city wouldn't let the project go forward.

The original approved elevations are colorized on a layout with color swatches. And city asked for them again.

So I just assumed that must be a standard thing, like "colorized 2D elevation layout" would be some button on architecture software, bc it was page 2 and 3 of the approved plans.

But it maybe it's not a common requirement? and the architect made then bc the city requires them - it's on the water in a beach town, and P&Z has a ton of opinions, but they also want green buildings now. Anyway, we got to the last step and hit a wall with x13.

Other than the 5 seconds of prestige at a dinner party. I am Just looking for some guidance on where I can go from here. I'm an architectural designer on the east coast; I have a 5 year degree from a good university and about 5 years in the industry. This field is merciless - I am working well over the 40 hour weeks with no overtime; and the pay is abysmal. I find myself working weekends too. I have no work-life balance and its making me depressed. When I do have free time I try to study to pass my architectural license exam so I can make more money but its almost a full time effort (6 exams) and is never consistent due to my overbearing workload.

Bioinspired architectural design for composites with much higher fracture resistance than that of individual constituent remains a major challenge for engineers and scientists. Inspired by the survival war between the mantis shrimps and abalones, we design a discontinuous fibrous Bouligand (DFB) architecture, a combination of Bouligand and nacreous staggered structures. Systematic bending experiments for 3D-printed single-edge notched specimens with such architecture indicate that total energy dissipations are insensitive to initial crack orientations and show optimized values at critical pitch angles. Fracture mechanics analyses demonstrate that the hybrid toughening mechanisms of crack twisting and crack bridging mode arising from DFB architecture enable excellent fracture resistance with crack orientation insensitivity. The compromise in competition of energy dissipations between crack twisting and crack bridging is identified as the origin of maximum fracture energy at a critical pitch angle. We further illustrate that the optimized fracture energy can be achieved by tuning fracture energy of crack bridging, pitch angles, fiber lengths, and twist angles distribution in DFB composites.

When applying for a job, we always consider the type of work we want to do. So if you are a fresher and are applying for a job, the positions you might land are junior architects or project architects. Both these jobs have a specific role. For example, a junior architect prepares drawings per client and site requirements and does client meetings and coordination. In contrast, project architects focus on the execution of the project and deal with vendors and labour for execution. Similarly, when you apply for a job or are sitting in an interview, think of the questions necessary to understand the role.

End the interview positively by thanking the interviewer for their time and expressing your interest in the role. This will leave a lasting impression and could decide whether or not you get the job. Keep these tips in your mind to crack an architecture job interview?

Senator Cory Booker was right when he called Joe Biden the "architect of mass incarceration." Joe Biden hasn't just stoked America's racial divisions over the course of his decades in Washington - he wrote laws that disproportionately imprisoned Black Americans.

When I first noticed the overabundance of male architects in pop culture, I thought I must have been overreacting, seeing and reading into nonexistent patterns, all Beautiful Mind-style. After all, there's a finite amount of job types out there, and just because I might have noticed a few movies about architects doesn't mean anything weird was going on.

Then CBS debuted its new show Partners, which features two male architects in leading roles. That means CBS now has two ensemble comedy shows featuring architects in a row on the same night every Monday.

... and plenty more, including Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle, Adam Sandler in Click, Luke Wilson in My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Matthew Broderick in The Cable Guy and Matt Dillon in You, Me and Dupree (and he also pretends to be an architect in Something About Mary). I just didn't feel like tracking down pictures of all of those.

Really look at that list. I'm closing in on 30 years old, I've lived on both sides of the country and spent at least a little bit of time in a dozen other states, and I have never in my life met a single architect (let alone a sexy one with a bunch of interesting and dramatic friends). I couldn't find an architect with a gun to my head, but when the aliens take over this planet and go through our records, they're going to assume that there was a long stretch of time where every single middle-class white guy exclusively built skyscrapers.

It's a crazy specific trend. If your character is a cop, you're making an action cop movie about justice. If he's a lawyer, you're making a legal thriller about a more boring kind of justice. But if you don't want to make an action movie or a legal thriller, your protagonist is an architect, end of story.

Or at least what Hollywood thinks an architect is. A little research on the part of these Hollywood writers might go a long way. Hollywood isn't just writing about architects; it's writing about architect designers. These protagonists are always landing clients and designing elegant and functional buildings when, in reality, modern architects spend very little time designing and focus more on "construction detailing or project management." There hasn't been an accurate representation of an architect on film in years. It's not just that Hollywood screen and TV writers keeping making all of their protagonists architects; it's that their research seems to begin and end with "Architects have drafting tables and those ruler things, right?"

Hollywood keeps making architects because they like the idea of what they think an architect is. They like that an architect has all of the passion and creativity of an artist, but without any of the "starving artist" stereotypes. They like writing characters with all the creativity of a writer but with the "groundedness" of a businessman. Of course, if they'd done any research, they'd realize that 53 percent of architects are out of work, most hate their detail-oriented, compromise-filled jobs, and you can find more articles about why one shouldn't be an architect than why one should.

Other children, such as 11-year-old Amea Williams, found a passion for architecture and design from the exhibition. She said that she wants to get good grades through high school to eventually become a UWM architecture student herself.

Explore design research at the frontiers of architecture through experimentation in computational design, robotic systems applied to fabrication and interactivity, and materiality. Innovate in design and creatively apply emergent technologies to unconventional spatial investigations resulting in full-scale architectural prototypes and components.

Computational Design
The first semester introduces history, theory, and criticism of systems of representation, robotics, and cybernetics. Through applied research, students will acquire key skills in coding, algorithms, interfaces, programming languages, big data survey processing and simulations, augmented reality, computational modeling, machine learning, and artificial intelligence applied to architecture and ecology. In addition, students will be able to choose an introductory level elective course from any of the three focus areas.

The Master of Science in Architecture, Computational Design prepares students for success in the field of architecture by providing theoretical and historical knowledge, and advanced design skills and methodologies, as the basis for understanding and shaping the complex relationships between architecture, ecology and computational technologies.
