Nithya Mammen is an Indian playback singer who predominantly works in Malayalam film industry. She rose to fame with her debut song "Nee Himamazhayayi" from the Malayalam movie Edakkad Battalion 06. She received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song "Vathikkalu Vellaripravu" from the movie Sufiyum Sujathayum.[1]

Born and raised in Doha, Qatar, Nithya later moved to Bangalore for her studies, where she invested in learning Hindustani classical music while doing her bachelor's degree in architecture at B.M.S. College of Engineering.[2][3] She is married to Vivek Francis, who was her senior in college.[4]

Nithya was introduced into playback singing by Kailas Menon after the composer's mother spotted her in a stage performance video.[2] She debuted with the song "Nee Himazhayayi" from the Malayalam movie Edakkad Battalion 06 starring Tovino Thomas. She received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer at the 51st Kerala State Film Awards for the song "Vathikkalu Vellaripravu" from the movie Sufiyum Sujathayum.[1]

The love ballad is sung in the soulful voices of Arjun Krishna, Nithya Mammen and Zia Ul Haq and composed by M Jayachandran. The lyrics are penned by B K Hari Narayan. The much-awaited film is scheduled for its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 3rd July.

The heartfelt love song will tug your heartstrings as it showcases the beautiful love story of a mute girl Sujata, played by Aditi and a Sufi priest played by Dev Mohan. The song gives us a glimpse into their sweet love story and shows Sujata expressing her love through a string of heartfelt letters.

Sufiyum Sujatayum is the next South Indian film to have a direct release on an OTT platform. The musical love story starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Dev Mohan and Jayasurya will stream on Amazon Prime Video from July 3 onwards. Ahead of the film's release, the makers released a new song titled Vathikkalu Vellaripravu.

The four-minute-odd long song is a musical treat to everyone. Within an hour of release, the song has clocked in over 7,000 views on YouTube. The soothing melody song, composed by M Jayachandran, was rendered by Arjun Krishna, Nithya Mammen and Zia Ul Haq.

Speaking about the song, he explained, "Vathikkalu Vellaripravu is a poignant song that brings out the innocence and endearment of new-found love and companionship. Set to beautiful constructed cinematic shots, the song is our ode to pure, innocent love. I hope audiences enjoy the song."

Sufiyum Sujatayum follows the story of Sujata, who is mute. She is in love with a Sufi priest played by Dev Mohan. However, Sujata's dad gets her married to an NRI (played by Jayasurya). What happens when Sujata comes back to her village years after his marriage forms the rest of the story.

'Vathikkalu Vellaripravu', the first song in the much awaited Malayalam film Sufiyum Sujatayum, starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Jayasurya, was released on Friday. The nearly 5 minute video shows a budding romance between Aditi Rao Hydari and Dev Mohan (who plays the Sufi).

Sufiyum Sujatayum is the first Malayalam film to have a direct OTT release. It has Aditi Rao Hydari making a comeback into Mollywood after 14 years. She debuted in Malayalam opposite Mammotty in the film Prajapati.

The film will have its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 3 and will be released across more than 200 countries and territories. Sufiyum Sujatayum has been produced by Vijay Babu under his banner of Friday Film House. The film is directed by Naranippuzha Shanavas.

KOCHI: With her soothing and melodious voice, Nithya Mammen has been mesmerising music lovers since her debut song Ne Hima Mazhayayi Varu. With many chartbusters to her name, the young singer has now won the Kerala State Film Award for her song Vathukkal Vellaripravu from the film Sufiyum Sujathayum.

Nithya is now enjoying the release of her latest song Ninnodu Cheran from the film Star. According to her, the reason her songs receive such love from listeners is because of the blending of the beautiful lyrics with soulful music. The lyrics and music have to go hand in hand as they both are important. In films, the situation and scope of the music also matter for its acceptance.
