Sorrybut my question is a bit of topic:
I am trying to setup an UltraStudio Recorder 3G and try to get it recognised by my MBP 15' 2017 with High Sierra.
So far I have
-connected the UltraStudio Recorder 3G via original Thunderbolt cable to my MBP. I have light in the UltraStudio Recorder 3G.
-downloaded and installed Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_10.9.4 (which is supposed to be compatible with High Sierra).
The result: The famous message "NO DESKTOP VIDEO DEVICE DETECTED".
I have checked my preferences/ "Security & Privacy" settings, but somehow there is nothing blocked or mentioned.
I tried a different computer with Mojave and the same steps, but still no luck.
I am quite lost with this thing.
Does someone have experience with the setup of this thing?
I am guessing this is your cable, remember that even though thunderbolt 3 cables look exactly the same as USBC cables on the outside they are very different (and much more expensive) make sure you have a legit thunderbolt 3 cable and one that is rated to carry the power requirement of the ultrastudio.
I have a 'BM Ultrastudio Recorder 3G' with me and I have it running on MBP 2020, Mac OS 10.15.7 Catalina using HDMI input from a Sony mirrorless camera. The recorder is set to HDMI: 1920x1080p50. There is a short Thunderbolt 3 cable (30cm) running between the computer and the device and a longer HDMI (2mtr) to the camera micro HDMI socket. The video stream can be picked up by Quicktime movie recorder and in Isadora, but not both at the same time. The Isadora setting matches the 1080p 50 setting. BM Desktop Video Setup had a version 11.6.
@fred Thanks for your response! I did invest into an original Apple thunderbolt 3 cable and I can tell you: when you pay, your are not in doubt anymore. But still I do not see any device in Desktop Video Setup.
@tomthebom I just checked and the issue is clear the device you are using was released much later than the version of Desktop video you are trying to use, it simply will not work unless you use a later version. The first version of Desktop video that supports the UltraStudio Recorder 3G is 11.6 - this is from the release notes
Is support still ignoring this issue and refusing to let us revert back to a version of Zoom that actually works? Why am I paying a monthly fee for software that breaks with the latest updates? The device works in literally every other piece of software except Zoom. This isn't the first time this has happened.
I've attached a screen shot to show how badly Zoom is broken.
I have a two hour seminar I'm hosting on the 22nd. It would be a real pain if I have to jump platforms at the last minute.
Has anybody tried the Blackmagic WebPresenter HD to see if it has the same issue?
It won't allow you to even open the app as it forces you to update. In theory, if I received a meeting invite, I might be able to join in the older zoom app, but in the meantime, I can't even open zoom to test it and my camera is not showing up from the ultrastudio recorder 3g with a thunderbolt cable and Monterrey 12.3.1. So unfortunately for me. Not a solution. My camera shows in OBS, but not in Zoom from either feature like they used to.
Just to update, on another thread a Zoom rep has said that because of all the noise being made, the engineering team is working on the issue as a priority, and should be fixed soon in a coming update. I'm hoping it is sooner rather than later, but who knows.
I am still experiencing a number of VDMX blocking. When activating/detecting cameras, VDMX tends to freeze (forced to quit and restart). In the end, I always managed to connect the cameras correctly after a few restarts. I advise to always connect the Sonnet box before launching VDMX, it helps. When I close VDMX, it is impossible to exit the program normally while the Sonnet box is connected; I have to force it to exit every time. If we disconnect the box while VDMX is running, it will also block.
I also experimented with SDI video output (via Black Magic Output module) and it works. The quality of the output via SDI is not as good for the colorimetric rendering as via the HDMI plug. For me, the module is not very practical because it is placed hierarchically in a place that I do not understand, it does not take into account the fade of the selected layer.
I had a quick question about the ultrastudio 4k mini, so i recently tried to use it at a venue that had this installed for a two projector setup. My m1max was reading it and and showed up in display preferences and even in the vdmx displays preferences as well where i clicked on the output but i wasnt getting any signal from it and just displayed a black screen. It was my first time using the ultrastudio4kmini so i wasnt sure if i needed to change something through there or through my end from my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated for future gigs.
Mac devices may try to connect with HDCP protocols. Some older projectors (or devices that had their EDIDs cloned and blacklisted by Apple) will not handshake / connect with an HDCP signal. And depending on your Mac settings, if it requires HDCP at that moment, your mac will not display an image.
