Welcome Jeff Tamer!

I'm really excited you've enrolled in our new class, AI for Robotics, beginning February 20! Over the next 7 weeks, I will teach you how to program and test all the major systems of a robotic car, while also teaching you important concepts in computer science and artificial intelligence.

Although this course builds off of the AI class Peter and I taught last fall, it is not a prerequisite. We do however recommend experience with Linear Algebra and Probability.

We will be programming in Python throughout the course, so familiarity with this language is expected. If you already know a different programming language and would still like to take the course, you are in luck! Python's syntax is especially easy to pick up, and a little time spent here should have you coding with Python in no time.

Each week, there will be a new unit that is made up of lecture videos, embedded quizzes, and answer discussions. Along with the lecture, we will also be posting class notes and links to extra material. I have an assistant for this course, Andy, who will be helping answer your questions. At the end of each unit, there will be a homework assignment with some problems for you to solve on your own, and the final week there will be an exam. Students who complete the course will receive a grade and a certificate of accomplishment.

I am very excited to teach all of you the sheer magic involved in making a car drive itself. If you have friends who haven't signed up yet, please encourage them to join soon! Enrollment will be open until February 27.

See you in class!

Sebastian

I'll be taking it next time it comes around. It's scheduled to also
run in the spring, but we'll see what they actually do. Already signed
up for the (delayed) cryptography class at Stanford.
