Hi All,

I'm looking for recommendations about project management / project tracking tools (other than MS project).

The core need is simplicity of use.

The key functionality required is the ability to track not only progress of the project deliverables in terms of % completion, but also costs vs. budget (simple stuff!). Main driver for this is the ability to report % completion vs. (spend vs. budget) collectively for multiple projects.

Hope that makes sense.

Look forward to your comments.

I'm a huge pivotal tracker fan, simple and easy to use; also has a
great mobile app.

However it does not track your budget; I'd suggest that you use it in
tandem with another tool just for that purpose.

Also, checkout Redmine, simple open source system project management
tool that can be customised to your hearts desire..

But these are geared more towards Agile software projects.

Base camp is not bad but is also a big expense, $49 a month for the
smallest plan. They tend to tie in with other products of theirs as
well.

One tool will not solve all of your project management needs. It'd be
a combination of them that works well for you and your team.

Thanks for the responses so far.

I should have pointed out that this is not for software development projects.

It would be in an environment where projects of a variety of different types were being managed.

You could try JIRA. IT'S $10 for 10 users. I don't believe it has cost tracking included, but you can add whatever fields you want and should be able to report in them without much hassle.

Not tried, but it's free.. Possibly worth having a look.

You could also have a chat to the guys at http://www.kinnov.com/, they are Melbourne based start-up and they have a project management module amongst others.

Regards
Ryan
