I've been playing around with django for the last few months and love
it.

... so I thought I'd put the feelers out and see if there'll be others
attending Sydney StartupCamp later this month who might be interested
in working with django? It occurred to me that by utilising pluggable
apps as much as possible we might actually have time during the
weekend to build a decent product.

And personally speaking, I think it'd be a great way to learn from
more experienced python/django developers in the area.

Any interest?

Great Idea, thinks me!  Ive been playing around with django for the last couple of years (and I am still a newbie!) so would be great to meet fellow djangoers...

now for a silly question, when is the next sydney startup camp?  So I can keep that weekend free.

cheers

Hey Sri,

Next StartupCamp is from Friday 16 Jan through to Sunday
http://www.startup-australia.org/startupcamp2signup .

If you can't make it, we should try to rustle up some more Sydney
djangoers for a beer later in the month. I have no idea if there's
already a django meetup in sydney - wouldn't be surprised if there is.

Oz.

I'd be super keen for a python/django users group meet up. I'm only
just starting out with django so I'm totally a n00b and keen to learn
from more intelligent beings! I've been to one python user group
meeting which was awesome and will be looking forward to more of them
this year :-)

I don't think there is a django group though, I'd looked for one ages
ago, but didn't come up with anything - maybe you guys can start one
Ozan/Sri ?

Ah if you are looking for intelligent beings youl have to look at Ozan and others like myself :D:D

but a group certainly has to go up... regarding venues and timings, i was thinking of asking the sydney python users group to see if we can extend their time on thursday and continue an hour after theirs so we can use the google plex on the same night...   il get back to you on that...

in the mean time have you guys checked out the pinax project?  more than happy to take this offline and start a sydney django users group so we dont bother the rest of the crowd...

cheers
Sri

you think the sydney python group isn't the right forum for django
talks?

DJ,

Not at all mate not at all.  SDUG is not in competition with SyPy at all.  I just wanted something more specific to django thats all..  but nothing says you cannot django at SyPy at all...  i just did not want to make the assumption that django was the framework of choice for everyone at SyPy or even that webapps were the sole/main focus of SyPy which is why I figured a separate forum could be useful... but again this is really upto the demands and needs of the community and what they find useful and comfortable...

Ideally I think the two would complement each other very well but timing constraints affect all.

cheers
