It seems like a little help is needed 🤔
It's German, from a company that built many different types of aircraft during and just after WWI, it was built in 1920 and used by the designer until 1945. It's not listed in Wiki though, and a second version was built with a radial engine in 1922.

Fascinating.
I looked at that Eindecker cable/wing support and thought even pre-WWI.
Obviously not a fighter then. It just looks archaic, even for 1920.
Purpose?

It was just a single-seat light aircraft
That's where I got my image, it was also in Flight in 1920
