I’m conscious of not having posted anything about our Catalan project here. Sorry.

You might find my latest blog post on the project interesting. The point of interest is that this lesson catches us, the students, just at that moment when we start transitioning from lessons ‘about’ Cuisenaire rods and crayons etc into talking about things from our lives.

So if you ever hear the criticism that Silent Way is about irrelevant and old-fashioned things like rods and pencils, and not about ‘real-world’ communication … show them this video and point out that we only got here because we worked properly on the basics of the language using those old-fashioned things … (you might also point out that Cuisenaire rods actually are real things!)
