I wasn't aware of how to get a satisfying chart pointing experience
online, but have now discovered a way of configuring my cursor in
Windows that seems to do the job well. See the attached video. Every
click highlights the position of the cursor with a circle that can be
configured for size, colour, transparency, duration of persistence etc.
The options are in Windows PowerToys under Mouse Highlighter. If anyone
would like more information, please ask.

What I described will only work for Windows users, I'm afraid.
If Mac doesn't natively support it, then to watch a .wmv video file (or
pretty much any other) you can download the player at
https://www.videolan.org/
